Padikkal v SRH (2021)

Another Indian top order (#1 to 3) batsman destroys his own team :((  ... Even Maxwell and ABDV can't rescue a team with such performances  ... Sadly in Indian cricket, guys like Padikkal would be seen as next best talent based on the ability to hit good looking straight drive, and looking secure at the crease by taking singles to bat longer and pad up runs at the expense of team's interest

BATTING   R B M 4s 6s SR

Another bright student from Rohit,Kohli,KL school of batsmanship

With such role models, only team Ind will suffer

anchor role :dontknow:

Not required. Can't waste 50+ balls ... If you score 41 off 52 balls, other batsmen, who may need to adjust to conditions too, need to get 101 off 68

One innings doesn't mean much. Kishan who is seen as some striker had SR of 86 for the entire IPL before last game.

DDP has done well overall but today he was too slow.

Except we can see Kishans intent when he was trying but it was not connecting. And he gets out so even with that strike rate he doesn't waste many balls

There is a difference between having 86 strike rate and getting out in 10 balls and having 86 strike rate and playing 50+ balls

On such strips these guys can fly under the radar but in batting strips they need to maintain 175-180 SR if they bat for 30+ balls

Paddikal tends to struggle the longer he plays, has a leverage of learning

He is like for like replacement of Dhawan

That is not his problem. It is the job of captain to make sure their biggest match winners get to face most of the deliveries. As a batsman, you can try hitting but if you can't, you don't throw away your wicket.

Also, the run out was a call from Maxwell because he wanted to smash more of Rashid Khan.

Devdutt has been really poor this year in terms of strike rate and that too is propped by that hundred against Rajasthan. If not his strike rate would be in the 110s for this year. Unlike Kishan who has no set place in his side, Devdutt has a free hand. He really needs to look at his game

Ppl here know that Padikkal plays regularly as an opener for RCB. The discussion is on an unacceptable match losing batting performance

If he can become half the batsman these role models were at their peak then that would be enough.

I don't think he will ever win two t20 Man of the tournaments award.

Rituraj is quiet the opposite. He picks up pace as he gets into the innings.
