Its nothing to laugh about. By 2025 it will be the second biggest league in the world after NFL beating MLB and NBA. Also EPL.  The guys who are interested have foresight. The indian middle class will burgeon in next 10 years and India has a young workforce who are the major consumers. Also with digital penetration people from all strata are now watching the matches. Be rich be poor. The FMCG ads are targeted to all people and the ads related to cars, Iphone pro etc are targeted to the middle and upper middle class. As middle class grows and people go up the value chain it will be a golden goose for all advertisers. Can you imagine a half a  billion educated  english speaking nation which is based on pillars of democracy. Thats the total population of EU and USA combined with very little state interference. ( China is communist and autocratic. If someone grows bigger their wings are cut off. Prime eg is Alibaba. Jack Ma.). And with covid showing the way that even in empty stadiums cricket can happen and still people will gobble it up in record numbers, and unknown players like tewatias can become heroes in a level playing field ( squid game cricket) with  bespoke coaches training them.. unless businessmen are morons they will certainly bir for it. No wonder Glazer MAN U family is interested. Word is out that head of uae state is a die hard fan and if not for political brouhaha they would have bid for a team. Hell they run man city anyways.. so gear up and see how ipl becomes even bigger in next 5 years..

Poyzz are done for good. India has moved on from the yesteryears and has a great outlook for the future. I genuinely think the fake rivalry will also come to an end once our generation (which is really a bridge between old and the new) slowly decreases watching cricket. The next generation of India doesn't give a rat's ass about Pakistan and have better things to focus on.

Thats some big names. If the Glazers are involved then they see massive money to be made, they dont care about anything else much like growing the game and so on.

 

Hopefully the quality of the product keeps pace. Some of the matches were real snoozefests this year, lots of lost viewership especially in the first half. BCCI and stakeholders have to improve the pitches for a start, noone will watch 20 overs of consolidation

Yeah. I mean India now wins athletics Olympic golds. That's our level now.

As the newer generation comes into prominence, rivalry will completely gone. From both ends tbh. Pakistan's median age is like 22. So most Pakistanis have only seen their team get whacked.

By mid century a first world high income country with a population of 1.6 billion. no way ipl isnt a 20-30 team 5-6 months thing then.

Where are you getting this "first world high income" stuff from? By all parameters we have gone backwards in lots of indexes ibcluding poverty, hunger, etc,  in last few years. In fact, in almost all global rankings pakistan and bangladesh rank ahead of us noa

What do you mean by high income? Most optimistic estimates would have India at Eastern European levels by 2050. Will mean a high GDP due to large population but not high income
