zen Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Usually, these spinnerd need extremely favourable surfaces to do well. The pister boys of “come to Ind” tagline and overrated in India based on stats at home on turners.
figo6762 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Why is Manju talking about Ashwin .. when he didn’t play the last game and will not play this tournament ? India lost the last game because they were mental midgets during power play. the biggest concern seems to be mental health .. the same bunch has been playing England . With the amount of resources that india has , selectors should have managed this better . all this anger and purpose should be directed towards that .

Content with defensive bowling in IPL as well as T20Is. Check their T20 stats in last 3-4 years, that SR could well be around 30 Aswhin stopped playing for India in 2017. He hasn't played T20 in 4 years.

Try_Ball Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Taking wickets in a T20 game is more skill based than anything else I feel. The game pressure can definitely make a difference in the last few overs and in a high run chase but when batting first or chasing a low score - that's when how skilled your bowling is comes into light. 1) CT Trophy - Amir was breathing fire and It was pure Skill - he wasn't looking to contain and create pressure but go for the throat - even in an ODI 2) T20 - Afridi taking out Sharma and Rahul was purely outclassing the batsman and bowling superb 3) Rashid Khan - regardless of what he's defending and if bowling first - This guy would go for the wickets every single time. I think a bowler who's more attacking and actively looking to take wickets rather than contain would also be a better asset - Difference between Jadeja vs Chahal - More often than not Chahal would have a higher rpo but he would end up taking more wickets. Jadeja is more of a constraining the opposition and bowling at the same place and squeezing them to make a mistake whereas Chahal would actively attack the wicket and even invite himself to get hit in order to get a wicket.

Ashwin stuck to his game last yr IPL but this time he was experimenting a lot , his % of carrom ball was very high and use of crease was too much . He did everything opposite this time to his last yr bowling in IPL . Even his pace, he was bowling lot quicker as compare to last yr when he was bowling a lot slower I srsly felt he used IPL like warmup this time . Come warmup game he again went back to his basics , by now he must have found whats working here n what not n what he can add. I hve seen him do that a lot even in domestic also Edited October 30, 2021 by Ankit_sharma03 sensible-indian 1
putrevus Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Both are finger spinners, they never were wicket takers. There was a reason why they both were sidelined after CT2017 but others failed to cement their spots.Jadeja has improved his batting and is now being considered more for allrounder slot.Jadeja should not bowl his overs every match , he needs a caddy and if Pandya cannot bowl it forces Jadeja to bowl his 4 overs every match.
diehardpacer Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 India should have stuck with Kul-Cha .Even Axar would have been better than Jadeja.

I know its different format, but he bowls the same way in T20. It works there coz batsmen look to attack more. Even then most of his wickets are in death. Now sadly even death bowling is declining. We don't have anyone to bowl like what Shaheen did upfront. His ER maybe 8+ but would anyday take him above Bhuvi.

Problem currently is he lacks fitness, rhythm and every thing 3 minutes ago, Lord said: We don't have anyone to bowl like what Shaheen did upfront. To sustain effectiveness or greatness in international cricket, you need to constantly evolve. Kul-Cha never did that, Chahal never had long term prospects.Kuldeep has lost complete confidence in himself. Axar is not better as a package than Jadeja. Lord 1
AuxiliA Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Jadeja is not a problem. He is anyway playing as a batting all-rounder these days. If Pandya was fit to bowl, Jadeja wouldn't even be bowling his full quota. The problem is with our 4 specialist bowlers. They just can't take wickets in T20s and ODIs without the scoreboard pressure. Bhuvi is by far the worst in this regard. Despite all our massive improvements in test bowling our white ball bowling hasn't improved even a bit. In fact it has regressed.

vvvslaxman Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Jadeja's batting is not good enough to ignore his harmless bowling. His bowling has gone almost to the level of Maxwell. But his batting doesn't quiet match Maxwell. Would you rather go with a genuine wicket taking spinner?

Ashwin was whacked for a six by Tripathi of all people under pressure. He is only good against left handers and a liability against right handers. At least Ravi Bishnoi or someone really attacking bowler should have been given a chance than finger spinner Ashwin. Next match selection will be hard. heavy dew. He bowled well that over. Spinner in last over is always too high risk

Bumrah was hit all over by NZ tailender jamieson so? Ashwin bowled 20th over. Picked 2 wickets. He just had to defend what? 7 runs?
