This guy was a nobody till yesterday and doesn’t even play 2nd tier leagues like BBl,CPL and PSL. Look at the confidence taking on good bowlers. Indian batsmen play like phattus in comparison 

 

Ashanka looks good ... Gaikwad has played two seasons and has been improving to be international cricket ready ... Shaw is a rhythm player so depends upon form (can look like million bucks one day and like junk the next) ... V Iyer is in his first season so would like to see more. Padikkal looked good in his first season and in the 2nd had SR issues

Under Kohli India's fast bowling in Tests became more potent. But on the downside it regressed in other formats. Spin was good for a brief period. Now Spin bowling and batting against spin both regressed badly. All these 100 kph darters should be removed.

If you look at big hitters like Pollard, Pooran, Russell, etc., they tend to look scratchy till they get going ... It is important to see the playing style of player when judging how he is shaping up.

 

For a rough example, difficult to judge a Gaikwad and a Shaw on same parameters.  With Gaikwad you are looking at how he is rotating the strike, getting the loose balls away, etc., and with Shaw you are judging him on his hitting, how cleanly he is middling the ball, finding gaps, hitting over the top, etc. Many times, he is going to look scratchy as well even when in form.

Esteemed colleague @velu initiated an anti-Chahal campaign to undermine him so much that he was dropped. The smirks when smashed for 6s gave @velu nightmares.

 

Kuldeep Yadav has fallen off a cliff. Form and confidence so shot that barely plays at any level anymore.
