Naya India: tabdeeli watch under kaptaan Rohit post WT20 2021

You cannot be making wholesale changes to the squad .Must remember at least 7-8 guys in the team are the best India has , so changes will happen only 2-4   members in the XI.

What is required is addressing weaknesses which hindered performance in the past & get the best out of the players for the next 2 years .

- Better running between the wickets 

- Better catching.

- Improved PP run rate.

-  Find at least 2 very good players of spin who can nullify the spinners of opposition teams & should play mostly 3 & 4 - ( SKY, Ishan, Pandya, Pant ,Gaikwad ?)

-  Rohit & VK  need to play spinners better .

- Ensure #1-to 3 do not play in the same tempo. Change the personnel in top 3 - Play SKY at 3 even if fails in some matches . Push VK down to #4. His role should be to play with minimum 140+ strike rate and control the second half of innings with power hitters . -(SKY at #3 )

- Have a leftie option at the top based on Opposition. Identify if Ishan , V iyer or Pant can be those guys ?

- Groom  a more attacking back up opener - (Shaw ?)

-  Develop a Power hitter who will be a floater and very good hitter of spinners .Need to take risks with such player to change the game plan of opposition in middle overs. ( Pandya, Venky , Ishan ?)

- Top 6 should bowl at least 2 overs  to move away from players like jaddu .

- Death over specialists skill development for pacers ( Nattu, Siraj, )

-A good swing /Seambowler  ( SiraJ

-A  145-150+ pacer with good change of pace variation without change in speed of arm rotation ( Umran , Nagarkoti, Prasidh ?) .

- couple of good spinners -Rahul C , Ashwin , Bishnoi

 

Lastly identify back ups for each position among younger ones

we had 4 140+ bowlers in 2003 against a similar level great team and got drubbed  

 

These guys have a plan. So far I’m loving  it. Finger licking good (not an MS Dhoni reference for trundlers)

everything is good , just missing a left arm pacer(may be nata or unad) .. even if he doesn't play he should bowl regularly in the nets so sarma can ready at all times.

We must go with rotation policy in t20 for our middle order only then they can develop ask guys like kishan, pant and sky to play at the top.

Minimum 4 things should be done in 3rd match.

1. Bat first if toss is won.

2. Change the opening pair. The third opener should play . Will be interesting to see who the new TM has identified as the 3rd opener . Ishan or Gaikwad.

3. Bring Avesh in place of chahar. 

4. Play Ishan in place of Pant.

 

If nothing is done , new TM should be deemed good for nothing .
