Important for India to win vs NZ to get their bogey team out of the way

India has a losing T20 record against NZ. This is the only team against whom we have won less than 50% of head on head matches.

 

While I understand we need to be trying out new things etc. It is equally important to put a bogey to rest.

 

I also note that this is not a WC match which NZ have always beaten us in. But still good to build that momentum.

But we have removed a big source of our loss kohli.

Do the contracts of our coaches and captain mention bilateral series wins as a criteria for their performance like naked bonuses?

 

Nothing else explains this downright dimwitted obsession with prioritising these wins over giving younger players a proper go.

They won only two matches effectively, one vs India and other vs Eng because of a late order flourish by Neesham.

Otherwise, they were pedestrian in all other matches where Scotland and Namibia also were somewhat matching NZ in their games.

India actually did win in the warm ups

 

Its just that they lost the toss and kohli being a nervous wreck probably knew in the mind of minds india had lost.

 

When the toss influences matters to such a degree (even in this series) whats the point of batting first and losing? In the second innings today the ball was hard to grip. 

 

India need a lucky toser which Rohit in general is. He is supposed to lose the match so that the kohli crowd can say bring back virat?
