zen Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Ind is 2-0 up, however, Rohit is opening instead of say V Iyer and Kishan. No matter what happens, these “experienced” guys playing for more than a decade cannot give up their position! What is the point of such experience if you are not even confident of batting out of place, while inexperienced players get moved around Norman and Lord 2
Majestic Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 (edited) Why give that position to V Iyer? Is he gonna open in World Cup next time? Is he in the plans for next World Cup as opener spot. You already have KL and Rohit and there is Kishan too. Kohli might and probably will come back too for no.3 position. So, it is better to plan V Iyer for no.6 position. What it does is that it gives India perhaps an option to have Hardik and V Iyer both at 5 and 6 or play only one of them. So their spot isn't taken for guarantee and we have extra options. If all of a sudden they find that Shreyas Iyer is looking hopeless in Australia, they can try Hardik at 5 and V Iyer goes at 6. Then there will be Axar or Jadeja at 7. So, you have 6-7 bowling options, like how Australia went with Stoinis, Maxwell and Marsh for fith bowling option, not relying on one man to fill the overs and losing the balance in the process. GeeGaw Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 You can have nine guys on the boundary and it don’t matter if you hit a six.

Shreyas iyer will BE beyond HOPELESS in Australia. He can't face zampa or starc. raki05 1

But i am talking about hitting sixes when there are 5 fielders on boundry. I have yet to see him hit sixes against fast bowlers in t20i. Like I said. Pant first needs to loose weight. Then he can think about playing cricket in LOI. His fatness is ok in tests as stamina is more important for tests.

He struggles against Hazelwood the most. He plays spin well, last time around hit a magnificent SIX under pressure against a spinner and opened the game for Pandya to win it. Also, seen him relish under crisis better than SKY and Pant. But yes, he can be hopeless in Australia on those bouncy pitches. Vijy 1
