Rohit's 161 vs Mayank's 150

Which one was better? 

 

Rohit scored against a better bowling attack and after we lost the first test so probably more important one but in terms of sheer quality and dominance, this knock by Mayank wins hands down. 

 

Made it look extremely easy.

That 161 was better, Eng had a better attack especially spinners & pacers as well.

Easily the Rohit knock not putting Agarwal down. Context of that and the higher % of team runs Rohit scored while everyone else struggled makes that clear

Both are great knock, not ATG level definitely but still very goog.

I rank Rohit's 161 higher as it was on a difficult pitch and against better spinner (althoughs it's debatable,)

Mayank's knock was also high quality and I think his knock today is better than his double hundred.

 

Also, Rohit's 161 is his best ever test knock too.

Yes that one was one MF treacherous pitch, his two fifties in that test are arguably the best by any batter in India since well I can't even remember how long!

How is Leach better than Ajaz?

 

Mayank's spot was in danger,plus against better attack.

 

Rohit's was on a proper turner but even if he failed his spot was secure.

Moen is better than Ajaz, Ajaz will get better but Moen right now is still a better test bowler! Moen+Leach+Stone>>>> AJaz, you probably forgot Stone but he bowled brilliantly on that pitch in the Spring heat at Chennai. That was much hotter than what made NZ sweat in the winter here!

NZ also got Southee and Jamieson who bowled well on dead pitch last game.

 

Ajaz is proper spinner while Moeen is AR. Bowling average 36+

 

This was not a dustbowl yet Ajaz did well.

It was their type of pitch, suited swing & low bounce also helped them a lot! Didn't I say if our braindead morons batted outside the crease they'd negate swing & take a lot of good options out vs the pacers? In this place, where there's less swing but more bounce what have their pacers done? NZ also bowled on three mornings & with another new ball on day 1, say what you will about our batters but NZ had the best of bowling conditions that match! That Chennai pitch was was worse for pacers than Kanpur - less swing, much more heat & probably(?) even slower.

He's a proper spinner but still not good enough, remind me who was the spinner NZ picked at WTC final? Moen has bowled in SA, Oz, Ind & a lot more in Eng. Ajaz has only bowled in Asia & maybe one test in Eng? Before this test do you want me to quote Ajaz's avg -

Come on, you don't need a dustbowl to take all 10, we didn't get bowl out for 36/9 on a green mamba - our chumps are more than enough to make anyone look great.

Stone also got only Gill and tailenders in Chennai.Only spin was challenge due to pitch.

Why'd they pick a spinner on greentop of Eng and NZ unless its top quality like Ashwin?

 

Ajaz did well in UAE too and England.Played very less but that doesnt mean hes bad. Moeen played more as he offered batting too.

That was pink ball+ movement along with pace & accuracy of Cummins and Hazelwood. Actually our batters did not do that much wrong.

 

In Chennai,even Root bowled well

Closest was gangulys 87 ( he got mom award) and laxmans 52 in 2008 against south africa that was one of the rankest turners i have seen. In first innings itself ball was turning and spitting.. in kanpur i guess.. since then i would go for laxmans unbelievable back bending innings with ojha but that was with runner..
