Checked our trimurthis best

Pujara has crossed 1000 runs in a calendar year once. Rahane None . Kohli thrice

Pujara 2017 -  11 tests 18 innings 1140 runs 67.05 avge  4 centuries 5 fifties

Kohli 2018 -     13 tests 24 innings 1322 runs 55.08 avgee 5 centuries 5 fifties

Kohli 2017  -    10 tests 16 innings   1059 runs 75.64 avge 5 centuries 1 fifty

Kohli 2016 -     12 tests 18 innings 1215 runs 75.93 avge 4 centuries 2 fifties

(in all the three years Kohli made a total of 4 ducks. But in 2021 alone 4 ducks)

Rahane's maxium runs in a calendar year is 809 runs in 2014.  That's it. Three times crossed 600. 2021 mere 411 runs in 12 tests.

Rahane should never have played so many tests. He is not even average batsman. This guy playing all three formats and screwing up 2014 finals is so shameful.Question is can Kohli bounce back or is this the end for him.

True Looking at the stat. It is an insult even for Pujara to be put in the same basket as Rahane let alone Kohli. Kohli atleast had 3 dream years which was very good. This guy was a non-starter.

"Yousuf batted on some national highways.

E: to quantify it, the matches involving Yousuf in 2006 had an average of 37.88 runs per wicket excluding Yousuf. The matches involving Root this year have an average of 25.43 runs per wicket excluding Root."

some credit to root

Yousuf also feasted on Windies attack of Jerome Taylor, Fidel Edwards and Dwayne Bravo on those highways. He hit four big hundreds in five innings against that attack.

Root has feasted on Sri Lanka too but it was away and those weren't really the highways.

You do a fantastic job in down playing any achievement by a Pakistani player. Have a heart and learn to appreciate good cricket irrespective of  his nationality. Can you tell me how many runs he scored and at what average against England in England in the 2006 and where did he scored his double ton that year.

Quality wise, Root and G Smith year were the best because they came mostly against stronger oppositions.

Clarke and Yousuf were great too but they had some advantages like absolute flat wickets in Clarke case and absolute flat wickets + some weaker oppositions ( Windies) in Yousuf case.

Tendulkar played almost exclusively in subcontinent bar 4 innigns. Couple of centuries vs BD/ one vs Srilanka. 4 innings at SA.

Counterpoint, the reason the runs / wicket are so low in Root's case is because the rest of his side is absolute dog **** at batting.

This record is pretty much meaningless since not all batsmen play the same number of tests each year.  In this case the top two have a calendar year average of 99 and 90 while Root is at ~57.

Pffffffffft.
