Would be funny if he was one of them.

there are also some people who could be gujara, shikhar, rohit, etc.

We have beaten south Africa twice in bilateral away from India, NZ a couple of times, aus once in the CB series and later the 2019 series, eng back in 2014, NatWest 2002.

Only once they are a bit weakened now that we have been able to beat them. Still we lost to Australia badly last time. In 2000s, winning even a match was a monumental task for us in Aus and SA. We won in NZ in 2009 ODI series but has struggled badly since then. Even last time, NZ won 3-0, Aus won 2-1.

We won in NZ in 2019 4-1 in ODIs before World cup.  Still they tonked us in World cup.

We won ODI series in Australia in 2018 without Smith n warner tho.  MSD was MoS lol.

Well in 2000s we were in a transition period, we did okay in the CB series 2004, should have won the first game against aus, ganguly got runout, we won two odis against SA in 2010 without four of our main players just before the world cup. We have underperformed big time in aus and NZ bilateral but how many times did we have full strength teams then, there was no Rohit in the aus odi's last year, pandya was not bowling.

Ridiculous thread.  This is Ruturaj's first good performance in List-A matches.  And V. Iyer has just appeared on the scene.  They both need at least 50 - 100 List A performances before we decide that they are worth even considering as possibilities to take the place of our inspirational elders like RGS, VK, Dhawan.  Remember, these men have brought pride and glory to the nation for 2 decades and thus deserve to occupy their spots until they decide to generously abdicate on their own terms.  Until then, sit down, shut up and thank your lucky stars that you are able to feast your eyes on the batting of these deities for 5 or 10 more years.  That is the Indian "buzurgs know best" way!

Havent they been playing domestics from 5+ years?  Atleast Gaikwad has been in the top-5 scorer from 2 years if I remember. Gaikwad averages close to 55 with a s/r of 100 in list -A matches. I think he should get a shot at ODIs atleast

Lol I know it was sarcastic from your side but I wouldn't be surprised if the selectors feel dhawan deserves a longer rope and ignore his domestic form, plus Rohit and dhawan are very close buddies.
