Anrich Nortje ruled out of India test series

Kohli has been extremely lucky as a captain in tests this year apart from that one match, the most important one. England played without Stokes too.

I was rather hoping Nortje will keep Olivier out of the side...  But jeez we are destined to face him.  Tall pacers trouble us every single time.  He is unknown to our batters as well:nervous:

Oliver is average, neither he is that tall like Ngidi. Similar height to Nortje but slower, 135ish.

Well at test cricket he isn't.  Nortje hasn't set the stage on fire yet.  Olivier has one MoS performance at least under him.  Ask Poyzz fans they know his terror better

EVen Sipamla may prove to be tough for our famed middle order. I get a bad feeling about this tour. Expecting South Africa to prepare some deadly wickets considering their team

Don't think we should worry . Reality check of our batters has to happen if we have to be a top rung team . What is the point of winning with some luck if current players cannot play high pace quality & spin  bowling . You need to replace them with younger players going forward if they fail here. In any case we are playing with worst performing MO for the last couple of years at least with few sparks in between.

They got Marco Jensen & Sturrman as backups..  They are good enough guys in their own den.

He is a gun bowler. When he flatlines our batsmen you will change your opinion.

If anything bouncy pitches suit us. They should prepare mambas that seam all day. That's the best option for them.

Flat can go wither way

Weakest SA side since readmission. Should not be a very challenging series for India.

I don't see how this Indian team can lose to the current lot of SA.

No AB, No Faf, No Morkel , No Kallis, No Steyn, No Philander, No Smith, No Amla.

What a low class weak SA side.

We required our tail enders to bail us out to in England. Or else it would have 0-3 by now... against the likes of Burns, Sibley, Crawley, Hameed, Pope etc..

South Africa has a better batting lineup than England and their bowling is just as lethal in home conditions as England's (even without Nortje). Don't know why you and many others think the likes of Elgar, Markram, RVD, QDK, Rabada Maharaj etc will just roll over..

Don't under-estimate RVD.  In low scoring games SA has the edge.  Besides we have untested players and out of form players playing in the top and middle order. KL Rahul sure had a decent series. But mostly in the first 3 innings in England. In the next 5 innings he registered 4 single digit scores. Rohit is lucky that he got away. Agarwal was a sitting duck against Starc's swing in Australia. Jamieson's swing in India. Here it will swing more.

stuurman can be deadly in the right conditions, especially. and jansen will soon become a high quality fast-medium bowler IMO, who can crank it close to fast.

Lol their bowling is probably even stronger than before. Sturrman along with Olivier rabada and ngidi in SA conditions is as good as their past attacks if not better.

All average under 25.

Sure their batting don't have stars but they are still good in SA conditions.

SA are favourites to win the series tbh especially given we are missing our gabba stars like sundar Gill etc who are good vs bounce.

Even batting. Just cause England beat saffers in their country doesn't mean much. England even beat them during smith's era. They won in 2005-06. They also beat them when they had Ab Faf and amla post Smith retirement.

Their conditions are still foreign for us. We have the bowling to destroy them but our batting is very fragile. So it's actually a very close game.

Besides Elgar, de kock, van der dussen, markram, peter malan. Does this look like a weak batting unit lmao? Have you seen their stats at home conditions?.

Sam Curran half his height had india in trouble in 2018. Philander was India’s biggest bogey in 2018. India play bounce back of length well but cant handle swing .. duanne oliver will be as good if not better than ollie robinson who took 21 wickets in 4 tests

stuurman will be an even bigger issues if he plays. he reminds me of a early- and mid-career pollock, who I rate more highly than Phil-trundler.
