What about rest of the batters and world beater ? Not responsible for defeat ?

One has been removed from captaincy.Others not rewarded.

Why reward failures?

Our two biggest issues in LOI cricket under clown's shambolic leadership

1. Incompetent leadership to win multi-team trophies with far too many strategic and tactical mistakes

2. Inability to spot, back and groom young players leading to muddled team combinations

Among the available options, based on last 3-4 years (primarily IPL), Rohit is the one who can help address both these issues. Should have been made the captain after the 2019 WC.

At 34 now, and with appalling fitness, is he the ideal choice? Not quite. Is a stop gap arrangement at best.

I suspect he's meant to play a kumble-like interim role before handing over reigns to next long-term capn.

Yes Rohit is sharp and shrewd.

with Sharp , I mean he is always thinking on feet ( on the ground). see him on the match and u can make out he is thinking. his results as captain speak for him.

he has captained in IPL and few India Matches.

shrewd, i think he did prove to be a clever captain in IPL and even as a short Mumbai team captain. i think as india captain for few matches he has captained, he showed that he always had a strategy chalked out with the coach. i am not sure kohli had such clear strategies. kohli always showed more energy but rohit is clever and shrewd.

it is said that one has to have a clever and cunning captain for best results. i think he will have more than 70 percent winss as an odi captain. though kohli was excellent as well.

Rahul, Iyer and Pant  will compete for the captaincy post 2023 WC. Two opportunities to win the IPL - whoever can lead his side to win even one of these may well get the crown. Bumrah could be the dark horse.

they should have a battle royale then. last man standing gets the captaincy.

20 months is a long long time to go. Say a Pant or Iyer go onto win an IPL but Rahul cannot, there is no way selectors can still appoint KL.

Also we can easily have 2 captains - one for Short format & one for tests. If KL does for tests someone among Pant , Bhums can be short format captain ( Booms

will have to skip many meaningless bi laterals else total burnout)

Desperate attempt. Rohit won 5 IPLs, Kohli none. So let's make Rohit captain. In reality, it will put more pressure on Rohit Sharma. He has to win two ICC titles in two years but with the same core team. If he doesn't win one, he will be declared a failure.

And man does he look under pressure? Teams have figured out him from Mumbai Indians matches. Hardly any new tactics, conventional bowling changes.

You can be tactically inept but make up with energy on the field. He is both tactically inept and is the worst onfield captain as far energy level is concerned.

No batting changes either , nothing he has done has impressed me.His inability to adapt and think outside the box has cost India a chance against England in semis.

Pretty much a good decision. But the scenario flipped in the longest format.

But he was hardly a permanent part of our squad when we was made captain. He looks insipid and uninspiring. I am not sure if he is even willing to captain.
