1) Gill has a 91 at Brisbane.

2) W Sundar has a match winning performance in Brisbane.

3) Vihari has got two excellent performances in last two games he played.

4) Shreyas Iyer got a hundred and a 60 in his debut.

When will these guys get their chances knowing that Pujara, Rahane and Pant perform only once in 10 matches.

Not sure about Vihari, but others will definitely be in our team for a long time.

Washington became a member of our squad in Aus then he scored a 90 odd in India and his place in the side was nearly confirmed.

Was selected for the tour of England but got injured and had yo sit out for a few months, that derailed his career.

Gill is Injured otherwise he was getting all the chances in the world.

Played all test vs Eng in India, was injured for the WTC and eng series and then played the test vs Nz as soon as he was fit then again got injured.

Who do you think is responsible for him not playing test matches?

The only genuine case is Iyer, he should have played ahead of Vihari and Rahane.

Why not sure about Vihari?

Saved a test in Sydney but no chances yet.

Scored a brilliant 40* but won't get a game next test. It is not like we are having a batting of Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman that he will have to wait. It is a conical middle order batting we have got.

Gill has got ample opportunities & it doesn't helps that he fails at home & gets injured before a crucial series.

Really unfortunate are guys like Iyer & especially Sundar who actually was batting superbly on rank turners in India.  Absolute travesty that he isn't touring here over Jayant

Brilliant 40?

Were we watching the same match?

At best it was an ok effort.

He was not out. What else you want? Throw his bat and either score a hundred or get out so people can discard him quite quickly?

From 228/8, he took them to 266/10. What more is expected of him?

Bro he has clear issue against bouncers and yesterday's innings was nothing special.

We have players like Sundar, Gill, Shaw, Sarfaraz waiting, why waste our time on Vihari.

Sarfaraz is not international standards in overseas conditions and Shaw has clear technical flaws overseas too.

At the moment, I would take Vihari over both. Only Gill is a better prospect than him in overseas conditions.

Gill is a prodigy and he deserves the run as he is future of Indian cricket.

Isn't Gill out due to injury? And Sundar was out due to injury too, but not sure why he would play domestic cricket but not international. Vihari seems like a limited batsman - can play a good side kick role but not take up aggressive scoring role. His preference for the non strikers end even when the bowlers came in to bat was awkward to watch. Iyer was clutch in the series at home, but I doubt he would have done much in SA conditions. But he will probably do better than Vihari because despite his limitations, he seems to have the knack for somehow surviving and proactively looks for runs. Even Mayank Agarwal is like that. He never stops looking for runs. Pujara, Rahane and Kohli should adopt similar attitude. They just play selfishly for their 30-40, ignoring the match situation and the team's needs.

That'll only happen if BRat retires or he relinquishes captaincy, neither happening anytime soon!

Vihari deserves a chance for 1 home series at least to see what he can do. All he has had so far are tough away tours.

I'd rather someone like Gill, Iyer or Sundar play at home! Vihari looks more like an away specialist, his game against spin is very suspect much like Rahane :cantstop:

Don't worry. they will all play when they are 30-32.

Yes Indian 11 opportunities are like govenrment job. Once you are in you are set for life. So only if they get niggles out, young ins have a chance.
