Rahane,Pujara should have been dropped ,Virat has lost his fo,focus ,have problem with BCCI administration.

So who are the young middle order batsman who can play in the batting position 3,4,5.

Iyer should have been automatic choice after his on debut 100,but he was not considered due to experience of Pujara and Rahane.

Vihari has been with the team but he always makes way for the experienced duo

Who are the next young middle order batsman who can play in the middle order.

Replace Pujara, Kohli and Rahane with Shaw, Gill and Iyer.

I have much more faith in this new trio to score more than a hundred amongst them in the next 100 innings.

Lets not forget, Pujara, Kohli and Rahane provided India with just one 100 in the last 105 innings they played collectively, speaks volumes of why India struggled at times.

Guys naming Sundar in MO is batshit crazy. He averages mid 30s in FC cricket.

There has to be a minimum level of performance, and not just potential or a knock here and there, before someone can be seriously considered for a specific role.

I am all for Sundar as a spin AR in team rightaway but accommodating him in MO is laughable.

+1000 . I know he did well in Aus, hes not a Top6 batsmen .

Who are other players who have  played for A team who can be considered. Most of the names that came forward are openers ie  Ruturaj,Shaw,Jaiswal,Eashwaran,Panchal,

If any other name can be considered is Surya Yadav

Don't have any idea about outstanding middle order batsman from Ranji top teams ie  Mumbai,Karnataka, Delhi,Tamil Nadu etc

There were some players Vijay Jol,Baba Aparajith but due to cancellation of Ranjis only those players who have played in A team would be considered

He played 12 FC games before his Test debut, last one being in 2017.If thats a good sample, why not 4 recent Tests where he averages 66.25

He started as a spinner who can bat but now improved his batting and based on what he shown,no reason he can't replace Rahane at 5.

OTOH his spin bowling is not good enough even for an AR. Sehwag level where he'll have odd good spell here and there

We have a dearth of batsmen who can bowl. Considering this, Sundar can be an excellent addition at 6. He has a better defensive game than most of the other youngsters and has a good head on his shoulders. I'm somehow certain that he will bring a degree of calm when he plays. With his temperament, he will be an excellent addition and the missing link of our test team.

His spin is more than enough when we tour the likes of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. In England we can play 1 more specialist spinner and in sub continent, we can play 2 other spinners and 2 fast.

yes overseas its enough as mostly holding an end is required. At home though hes not good enough to be spin AR yet as we saw in home series v England.

The main point is that he is a batsman who can bowl.

He  originally is an opener. Just because he got labelled as a spinner due to IPL doesn't make him a spinner. He at best is a part-time spinner. He should focus on making into top 6 as a batsman.

Sundar can play at 6 and Pant is also a no 6 for me unless he shows more consistency. A special knock once in a while is good for no.6 but not for 5.

We need a 43-44 or more averaging batsman at both no 3 and 5 assuming they average over 35 in SENA. That is the expectation from our no.3 and no.5.

We should try Gill at 3, Kohli will continue at 4 and 5 is a spot for guys like Vihari, Iyer etc to make it their own.

more people need to be given chances.

I don't think Coach saheb will disturb the team combinations

Shikar cannot be dropped after half century,Rahul is captain,Virat in search of century to silence his critics.

High chance of Venky Iyer to be dropped for Surya Yadav
