that he ll only learn with experience which means a lot of beatings

or maybe we'll have to try someone else. He did well but doesnt seem mentally tough.More suited to Tests

90% are poor bats against swing these days............guys like bairstow n roy are few i can think who can take him on well which is why i say he shudnt be guaranteed a spot but he is a very good option in squad now

There won't be much swing on most pitches

I think it was not a bad show by MO batters .Mind you this pitch is not total patta . Pace, bounce & some turn.  KL looked very good , Pant was good , Shreyas was scratchy but stuck it out , SKY got runs . So all 4 did rather well , not like what happened in SA.

So more or less MO batters are identified, if one fails give chance to other among these.

Concern is Top 3 together and more so #3 if virat cannot pull up.

Middle order performed well but I ll like to see consistency at that slots. Pant should not be pushed up or down if he is the designate no 4 going forward.

Once again the crucial no 4-5 slot was messed around randomly in each game. Who are no 4 & 5 in the first XI? If TM has any ideas about answer to the question, then it's fine otherwise this becoming another initiation towards disaster

Top 3 continue to make merry & get each game, however the middle order is treated like crap with no consistency.

Between Pant, Rahul, SKY, Iyer, Sundar and Chahar/Shardul, the middle order woes will more or less be sorted. The first five barring Rahul can actually bat in top 3 as well and do a fairly decent job. Now to give them more opportunities.

Would love to see Sundar bat at 3/4. A left handed batsman who can bowl 10 overs and bat in the top order will be gold dust for us.

The middle order is still unsettled.

Even against a team like WestIndies they are failing to play fluent knocks.

Compare this to how our top 3 played in their peak years.

When will this freaking middle order actually realise their talent? Will they always bank on their unknown talent without delivering anything of quality (except Pant).

Imagine what would happen if they were playing against a top team.

When our top 3 were in peak years we dominated top teams in home and away conditions in lois, this new lot cant bat properly against windies, lol.

Bas IPL khila lo in ko.

Pant is good - but he needs to finally start delivering like a great batsman.

Start scoring consistently and make  hundreds like Yuvraj.

Yuvi's first ton came 3 years after his debut-that too v BD of 2003.We don't play such teams anymore.

Pant has been decent enough given hes already played at 4 different positions

yuvi was only consistent in a particular phase for most part of his career he was inconsistent

His consistency phase was when he already  had played 5 yrs international cricket with proper backing, I think he was avg 29 till his 100 ODI

Bro, this is not the same era.

Here you won't get same amount of chances. Yuvi got so many chances because he was talented and the cupboard was bare, the TM would look to replace Pant if he fails in one or two odi series, if people can question Kohli after being ICC cricketer of the decade who the hell is Pant?

Dont you think he should actually have one grand year in lois now, 3 4 saal ho gaye debut ke.

Yes but that's because the cupboard was bare at that time, if Pant averages 30 after 60 games he will be thrown out.

Only pea sized brains will compare what guys with less than 20-25 ODIs are doing on what have been some of the spiciest ODI pitches in recent times with the performance of those with 40-50 matches experience that too on flatter wickets.

Why are people saying that Pant has been Decent enough?

I Know he has been decent.

But we don't want him to be 'decent' he should do way more than just decent

He is one of the most talented cricketers out there, needs to have a grand year in lois.
