We can't say much at this moment. India, Pakistan, Australia and South Africa are all in with a pretty good chance of making it to the finals. Australia with a likely win this game has just improved their chances even further. 

 

South Africa have tours of England (predicting a 1-1 draw) and Australia (0-3) so that will pull them back. And to have an easier final (against Pak), we must beat Aussies atleast 3-0 if not 4-0. Because trust me... We would not want to face this Aussie team in an ICC final in England. We have better chances of beating this Aussie team at Brisbane or Perth than on a typical English seamer.

We should. My only fear is the shitty Bamgladeshi late monsoon weather. It rains a lot around Oct/Nov in Bangladesh.

rank turners can backfire like Pune 2017.

By 'ruthless' , I didn't mean rank turners. I meant normal turners for all 4 games. Usually in every 4-5 match long series, we produce atleast 2 wickets that are relatively quite flat and batting friendly. This Australian batting lineup is perfectly capable of batting us out on a flat deck.

There won't be any wtc final to begin with (for us) if we prepare flatter decks against the Australian batting order. 

 

And form on home wickets won't matter much in England anyways.

Australia play fast aggressive cricket...  They don't believe in grinding out draws or play marathon inns mostly & we tend to play games like that as well as our batters don't really know how to build a inns.  Fast paced cricket suits team India.  

Kiwis play attritional cricket... Strauss Cook Bell used to be same that way & we struggled against them. 

Australia moves game forward quickly & so do we.  That's why our matchup is awesome tk watch.  I will give an edge to Australia in the finals but India has their numbee remember.  We are their bogey side.

They have 7 lefties in top 7. Ashwin already owns warner and head, I doubt khawaja and carey will do anything close to their exploits in pak. The two bradmans in the middle order are the only worry. If Bumrah is fully fit, it'll be fantastic series and We will win 3-1 or 3-0. No reason to spoil it like last England series 

 

However I wouldn't schedule pink ball match in that series. SG pink ball does wierd sh*t and I don't trust our batsmen after 36-9. I hope Dravid/Ganguly have enough common sense to avoid D/N test in that series

Pakistan played into Aussie  hands by rolling out flat tracks. That is how Australia beats opposition at home. Rolling out flat tracks scoring big and using scoreboard pressure to beat them.

Hazlewood is average in England. Cummins is dangerous with his outside off stump accuracy. But bumrah I'd just as deadly. We need siraj there. Probably blood in prasidh but that won't happen as our management is a myopic.

No no no. No matter what wood we have, Aussies are dangerous. I would rather play any team not named Australia in ko games. Hell how many players got injured in that BG series lol to get the series win? There is no wood. We just step our game up to top opposition. Aussies are tough to beat. This is easily their second best side ever after punters side. We have to be at our absolute best to beat Aussies. Now they look good in Asia too. Imagine they win 4 tosses, it will be mighty tough for even us. I would say 2-1 India. Or 3-1 if both are at their best but it will be a nail biting contest.

Indias biggest test will be the july one off test in england . If india can somehow win or draw that one we will be in a pretty good shape. Remember last time in the wtc cycle we lost 4 matches : Adelaide, 2 in Nz and 1 in Chennai. We just drew one in Sydney. Rest we won. 
 

This time around we already have lost 3 ( 1 in England 2 in Saf) and drawn 2 - 1st test england and the first test (why why why ) against nz by the barest margins and i think that draw in that stupid pitch will haunt us..

 

NOW we have 7 ( 2 BD, 1 ENG, 4 AUS) tests left. We can only qualify if we win 6 of them full stop. Hopefully we will beat toygers unless the weird late monsoon as someone commented appears to screw us( happened a few yrs ago in fatullah).. we hopefully can beat aus in 2 of the 4 matches (turners etc). The question is can we win 2 out of the remaining 3. From purely tactical perspective India should go for turners .. the reason is because we have shreyas iyer who is a big upgrade on rahane. His front n back foot play is amazing agaisnt spin and he can take the game away batting at 6. Hopefully pant iyer jaddu axar ashwin can bail out india even if we lose 3/4 quick wickets which are inevitable in at least 2 tests. But when ball gets old between 40 to 80 overs ( reverse swing wont be a big problem if the outfield is lush which normally is in india) its then in these 40 overs india can score at a maniac 3.5 to 4.5 rate which can turn the tide even if its a rank turner.. pant is not going to let Lyon settle for sure.. and with crowds back full on batting in heat n with close catch in fielders it wont be easy.. and rohit always ups his game against tough opponents .. and then has misal pav against easy ones.. hope it remains true..
