zen
It appears as if most are not aware of "groups" (or their details) so let's quickly address that (for information only, not to discuss its pros/cons): Group A - MI, KKR, RR, DC, & LSG Group B - CSK, SRH, RCB, PK, & GT Teams play: 2 games versus teams in the same group 1 game versus 4 teams in the other group 2 games versus the team in its parallel position in the other group so MI-CSK, KKR-SRH, and so on play 2 games against each other Back to the topic - playoff race is heating up where 4 teams at the top of the table irrespective of group advance. Most likely 2 teams from each group will head to the playoffs. 3 teams from one group can go in cases where teams competing for a spot in the other group eat into each others' points, and the 3rd team has similar wins (as those teams in the other group) with a better NRR. Group A RR -> 6 wins with 6 games to go LSG -> 5 wins with 6 games to go DC -> 4 wins with 6 games to go Group B GT -> 7 wins with 6 games to go SRH -> 5 wins with 6 games to go RCB -> 5 wins with 5 games to go PK -> 4 wins with 6 games to go Potential spoilsport teams: CSK, KKR, & MI (CSK & KKR may need to win all of their remaining games for a mathematical chance to qualify): At this point (not accounting for extremely dramatic situations), 5 teams are competing for 2 spots, targeting 8 or more wins (not considering NRR at the moment): Win 3/6 games - LSG & SRH (if they lose 4 games, they could become vulnerable) Win 3/5 games - RCB Win 4/6 games - DC & PK Games among these 5 teams: LSG v PK DC v LSG DC v SRH RCB v SRH PK v RCB DC v PK PK v SRH In the above games: LSG plays 2 of its 6 remaining games RCB plays 2 of its 5 remaining games DC, PK, & SRH play 3 of their remaining 6 games If the qualification for the last spot is to hinge on the final group game (which tends to happen in IPL), then the final game is PK v SRH so either it could be that the winner would advance or one of the teams may need to win it to advance, while the other would be in a nothing to lose position or even qualified (and there could be a 3rd team waiting for the team that needs to win to lose so it could advance). RCB also beat KKR, RR, MI, DC, & LSG (RCB also lost one to RR as they played each other twice). CSK beat MI too (CSK will play MI again). Below are its remaining games: v RR v GT v KKR v CSK v SRH v DC If it fields a good 11, MI may pull off a win versus a KKR or a CSK. RR & GT may be look to experiment against MI. SRH & DC would pushing for a place in the playoffs so could be under pressure Edited April 28, 2022 by zen bowl_out

Majestic
At the moment, Gujarat, Hyderabad, Rajasthan and Lucknow look comfortably better than the rest. Delhi seems to have found some resurgence too as their NRR is good. RCB have very poor NRR.
zen
Points Table after M44 ... In terms of chances for teams, nothing changes significantly ... In Group B, PK (5 games remaining) & RCB (4 games remaining) - because they have a negative NRR at the moment, should focus on winning all its games (unless things change) ... In Group A, RR (which lost to MI) can be pushed by LSG, which can be pushed by DC if it plays well TEAM M W L PT NRR GT 9 8 1 16 0.377 RR 9 6 3 12 0.450 LSG 9 6 3 12 0.408 SRH 8 5 3 10 0.600 RCB 10 5 5 10 -0.558 DC 8 4 4 8 0.695 PBKS 9 4 5 8 -0.470 KKR 9 3 6 6 -0.006 CSK 8 2 6 4 -0.538 MI 9 1 8 2 -0.836 Edited April 30, 2022 by zen
