Why did India start with Siraj today and not Bumrah-Shami?

Should have started with Shami & Bumrah for 6 over spell each.

Bumrah wanted to bowl from other end so siraj bowled first over.

Prasidh Krishna could've played the role of the bounce bowler. But he was needed against Northamptonshire, so it is understandable he couldn't play here ;)

For all the grief that we give Rahane the batsman - and it is well-deserved - his captaincy in Australia was remarkable.  To take a group of young, inexperienced guys and make them world-beaters was no mean task. I will appreciate that my whole life.

 

Just wish his batting form had not dipped so badly.

Exactly. If you can't defend 380then piss off. Batsmen did bat poorly however support bowlers were a huge let down. The bounce was missing.

this "attack" couldn't have defended 500. Root-a-toot and Bairstow (Bairoot) were looking completely at home. even chasing 600 (like in the timeless Durban test of 1930s) was conceivable.
