Exactly. Hooda shouldn't play below 5. He isn't a finisher, more of a middle overs enforcer.

And mostly he is good against spinners , he doesnt look to have the technique to handle high pace hard lengths . His job shud be just to destroy spin

Yep.   He was used effectively in Eng T20 series.   Came in to bat and immediately smashed 2 consecutive SIXES off Moen Ali. That should be his role.   But the question is : Will he be able to hit sixes against left arm spin?    (Usually, right handed batters struggle against left arm spinners)

patidar is worth a gamble if you ask me.

Frankly, Hooda should be batting in Pant's position. Pant should either bat in the top order with license to play freely or not be part of T20 team. His best years for Delhi came when he batted in the top 3-4, not in the middle order.

India has so many players who are good enough to play in the top. Nobody is available to finish like Yuvi, Raina. Pandya was doing that role. Now he has changed his role too. Now we are left with DK. So potentially even if we are 120/3 in the first 10 we may not finish with a 200 total due to this. To compound matters our batting stops literally at 7.  No. 8,9,10,11 are worth 10 runs in 10 balls on a good day.

pant job is currently to destroy spin, i want to back him and so does team but if competition gets tight for spots it will only be him loosing place coz he doesnt have performances to back his case

Which is the bigger problem if you ask me. It's tough to sustain hitting through the innings if you have no hitters after 7.

Spin bashing is fine but he is kinda like MSD was in the sense that he needs time before attacking. It's not a surprise that at present his sr mirrors MSD's T20I sr.

So question then becomes what is the best position for Pant. I guess top 4. SKY can start attacking from ball one so I don't think number 5 will be an issue for him.

Basically, the further Pant is pushed down the order, the less effective he is. Either use him optimally or don't use him at all.

is surprising to see pant struggling coz for 3 yrs in IPL he was a beast and he produced stuff of legend. I still see those innings and wonder what happen............just feel his mindset was so clear at that time. Even this avg IPL he was at s/r of 150

It could simply be a case of opposition identifying his weaknesses. But again, at the start of his IPL career he was playing mostly in the top order.

they have the wider line but he does look hassled.

Yesterday it wasnt wide line , he opened his cards so soon that the bowler saw it and quickly adjusted

That is how Pant bats. He is unlikely to make any adjustments. It worked for him in Tests which is where frankly he is needed.
