my comment was not about Gill/Abhishek, but in general about selection. Sometimes, we even pick red ball specialists based on recent IPL form.

That's right we should choose player based on talent and potential. Like this wc completely exposing hacks and providing opportunities to sign technically good players. Like Kohli  even Kl if he sort out his mental disintegration. Selectors should always plan well where the tournament will be hosted what would be condition like who are players in form and who can flourish in all conditions maintaining good sr. But one thing in common is players with most potential should be back than any aira gaira hacks who can only flourish and hack in ipl or domestic we shouldn't just look at the wkt column but also how the wkts were taken. Unless they do such fine grain filtering we will always have these issues like Harshal and Avesh type selection who dint even played a single game in wc inspite of playing all biletrals since 21 wt20.

Finisher material.

Something we really need.

I am curious to know how far is he able to hit sixes.. in some Indian grounds they can just about clear boundary for six which can easily be a catch in other grounds

Did not like the game sense of any of our next line of national players in SF/ Final level . These players need to show their cricket smarts & game sense and carrry their teams and win matches.  If they cannot do that at domestic level , doubts will come how they will do in international level ?

Most just threw their wickets in such crucial matches.

Gill in SF , Shaw in SF & Final, Jaiswal in SF & Final

Is that why Saurashtra played pre-quarters while Gujarat placed above them in NRR didn't?

Also Punjab placed above Delhi had to play PQs while Delhi didn't. Haryana placed third could still play. How was the PQs allocated? Strange draws in our domestics. Sometimes the top 2 teams play each other in Qs? WTF!

yeah i think so , the standings on bcci website inidicate that.

One stat that caught my attention

Tewatia

8 matches 14 wickets 10.91 avge 6.51 ER

Which is pretty impressive. But batting is average this season.

Why the selectors have completely ignored him, never gave him an opportunity

this guy is ready unless there are some chinks in the armour that we don't know

doesn't seem so well-suited for short balls directed into the body?

as expected, he went one level below instead. boy has not only technical issues but temperament ones too

Shaw will never succeed at the international level, to many chinks in technique and he plays on the up, he ain't the first one to dominate domestic cricket like this, many have done before and currently, Mayank dagar and Abhishek Sharma the only two players that looked international quality in these Knockout games tbh, rest just journeyman.
