Different format.. Curran wasn't paid that high when he was picked due to test performance vs India.

 

Now, Curran is a death over bowler and a clutch all rounder so his weightage has increased.

I  don't think they care what format. It went down next season to 5.5 crores

 

This is his first season in IPL 7.4 crores which in itself is very high after test performance

Another big issue is impact player rule. They completely messed this up. No one good enough to be impact player

Looks like a Hidden gem...  Nobody knew about him not even Mohsin.   He may dig up some videos but claiming he has serious pace..  Tennis ball product like Umran

No point in commenting on which "appears" strong or weak as it depends on which players are in form during IPL.  Players are also chosen per the conditions at home venue ... Post the mega auction, almost all teams are more or less evenly matched on paper as they have a bunch of players from which a competitive 11-12 can be picked. It is the injuries and form that can change dynamics for a team. 

 

Coming to GT, after winning the title, its 11-12 were almost going to be fixed so it was going to play around at the auction. Its major concern was replacement for Lockie, who was traded to KKR, and a back up for Shami & Dayal, along with an India WJ as a backup/alternative to Saha. Let see what GT did: 

 

• Lockie 10 cr ->  Little 4.4 cr  (got a hat trick versus NZ in T20 WC) + Mavi 6 cr
• Gurbaz 0.5 cr + Drakes 1.1 cr = KW 2 cr + Odean 0.5 cr ... KW can be useful at A'bad, where totals can be in the 170 range, and in playoffs 
• KS Bharat + Urvil Patel (both can play in the top order 1-3) = Ind WKs 
• Mohit rewarded for being with the team as a net bowler in 2022 

GT still had over 4 cr remaining.

KW is kind of useless, but they can afford to have one such marquee player in the extended squad

GT can start with an 11 like below:

 

Sai Sudarshan or Abhinav (if they play 10-12 games, they are likely do well in 3-4 games) ... or an Indian WK if KW is at #3

Joseph or Little ... or Noor can be played too as a mystery spinner as GT now has competitive Indian pace bowlers

PS  if Odean is in good hitting form, he can be played at #7 if an Ind batsman is in form too and played in the top order #1-3 in place of the 3rd Indian bowler slotted at #9 above:

I think BCCI this year asked all the players to participate( be available) in Domestic tournaments to be selected for IPL and both Gurnoor and Bashirs didn't play/were not selected for their state sides.

 

For such players its mostly up-to the teams who had them as net bowlers to take a punt. 

They might get a chance if some1 gets injured and they are picked in the side. Are they associated with any team as net bowlers?

That's not the case. All these guys were listed in the auction. Guys like Avinash and Himanshu have not played any domestic cricket but got picked. Even Sushant Mishra wasn't called up in the auction.

The likes of Sakariya, Jani, Mukesh, Unadkut are earning in crores and teams are running behind them.

But they don't spend a single penny on the likes of Sushant, Akash, Purnank.

 

Likes of Natarajan and Bhuvi will hog the places in SRH thereby sidelining Kartik Tyagi.

 

I can't believe that Mukesh is sold for 5.50 Crore. Why our so called scouts do not focus on domestic talents instead of hopping on the trundler train ?
