Jaddu OTOH has to be hidden away from bowling till the end of the powerplay. His fielding is excellent, but that alone isn't reason enough for selection. Besides, he is 33-34 and is not going to be around forever.

We aren't missing Jadeja the fraud lol. Apart from his limited talent in LOIs, he is very selfish too. Dangerous combination for any team.

Axar is a much better bowler than Jadeja in T20s. Batting not much of difference. 

 

Let's put it this way - If Jadeja wasn't injured, TM would have played him in all matches, almost as if it's an obligation and as if his place should never be questioned. As he is injured now, we are at least exploring other options based on team composition and opposition. That's a win itself for the team.

Why are limited abilities characterized as selfish ?

 

Other teams don't fancy Mr. 24 blueberry pies as LOI material. It's one thing to score 37 runs against him and another to face Boult, Starc & Shaheen.

 

Definitely miss his fielding, not anything else. HP is the lone genuine AR we have and no one else at international level.

 

The question to ask is, why is fielding below par for the others ? It's not a good to have skill such as tailender who can bat, u just have to take the field every single game and take catches, save runs & effect run outs, full stop.

Granted Axar is a better T20 bowler but the difference isn't that great. Axar is no Rashid Khan. 

 

And how is Axar about same in batting as Jadeja?

Jadeja might not seem great in T20s but he's the best spin batting AR we have got.

 

He's a lefty who can bat well at no 4-5 too and bowl a couple of economical overs even on his bad days. Who else can fit this bill? 

 

If you factor his fielding he's much better package than any of his alternatives.

Should have carried known guys like Thakur as part of the 15. Thakur played some outrageous shots against short stuff at the gabba. Even Sundar played pull shot well.

That was Test. Completely different when you have to hit virtually every ball

 

Thakur or Venky Iyer would have suited conditions more.

In hindsight i would have backed SHreyas too. He can also block these pacers and go nuts against spinners. Also a better fielder. Given that  these pitches are not 200 pitches, India could have loaded up the side with better players like Gill given the extra bounce. Going forward all mental midgets should weeded out.
