Is Netherlands defeating South Africa biggest upset ever in cricket history?

Can't recall last time I saw a big team losing to minnows in must win/KO game.

Usually minnows defeat teams either in bilateral or group matches where there is not much pressure on big team to win and they take it bit lightly or if big team is going through lean patch due off field issues.

SA came to this match with 22-9 W/L ratio since June 2021. Batsmen and bowlers in good form, must win game and still lost.

It was Zimbabwe and that wasn't a must win

This wasn't a must win for Ned either, unless you meant for SA? In which case it was more pressure on them, so the 2007 WT20 win is still better.

Wrong again - https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/icc-world-twenty20-2007-08-286109/australia-vs-zimbabwe-4th-match-group-b-287856/full-scorecard

Zim beat the best LO outfit at that time, this was one for the ages!

Again that was another scenario of group match, not KO and Aus taking Zim lightly

Ricky Ponting - who has said this format is not one he takes seriously but admitted afterwards "we've just got to start respecting the game now" - looked as stressed as anyone as he frantically marshalled his field.

Scotland did beat some team Australia or England somewhere. Forgot it.

That Oz outfit was the best LO ever after their 2003 WC winning team, the 2003 one was the best LO team ever IMO. Eng were & will never be anywhere close to that outfit! In fact if it weren't for Yuvraj's innings Oz would likely win the first WT20 - they were just miles ahead of everyone & yes they would've pummelled Pak in the finals.

This isn't a KO either & if you're counting pressure it's more on SA than it was on Oz at the time, do you not get this simple concept?

This was must win game for SA and they were trying best to win.

Usually most of the upsets have been in scenario when bigger teams have slacked off as it happened in Aus v Zim game,

Tell me this simple thing - man for man which was the better team? And if Oz took Zim lightly then what the * did SA do here?

The 2003 Aussies had a killer bowling attack. McGrath would play chief villain and the rip the heart out of opposition batting, with Brett Lee and Gillespie making life even more difficult for the batsmen. There was nowhere to hide.

This gotta be. All round choke. Completely bottled it. Maharaja was limping in the end. It was horrible to see him wincing in pain still carrying on pursuing the target hopelessly.

wouldn't it have been better that he retired hurt and got in a better runner? It seemed pointless, it not like he was miller.
