Good idea.. We have good batsman against spin like pant iyer pandya.. But problem is we don't have quality spinners

On turning tracks the likes of Sundar, Axar & definitely Jadeja can wreck havoc. More importantly all of them can bat to varying degrees!

We also have lohli, Rahul, Rohit. If we can't beat Bangladesh spinners  in Bangladesh what will these bozos do in world cup.

Playing Bangla in Bangla is different than playing them in India, when was the last time Bangers beat us at home? No seriously do you remember that :bebored:

The main threats are of course Engurlund & Oz, we need to counter their batting & with matches in autumn/winter dew will be a major issue!

Almost all our spinners are hittable in dewy conditions. Last time we dominated a top side was against SA at Trivandrum. It is swing. We reduced the mighty SA to 8 for 5 in no time thanks to Arshdeep singh.  In all the world cup matches swing has been our  best friend. In world T20 in Australia India had the highest degree of swing among all the teams.  Hope we get some swinging conditions

Hardly, the last time we won an ICC(?) trophy due to swing was back in 1983 - in 2011 we won on the back of our batting & arguably the dew at Wankhede.

If it's spinning big then dew will no be that big of a deal unless it's really really bad. Hopefully the match timings will make sure one side doesn't get a huge advantage with the toss.

With our current top 3 or 4 we better commit Seppuku first :hmpf:

Teams like England have like array of sweep shots at their disposal. We hardly produce game changing spinners like Rashid Khan, Adil Rashid, Adam Zampa. Apart from the period when Kulcha were bowling well our spinners hardly threatened any side.

Then there is this lol

Moeen Ali to Kohli, OUT

A horrible hack from Kohli and he's bowled! Oh wow, that's turned a fair bit from an off-stump line, but Kohli's eyes were bigger than his stomach there, he rocked back for something wildly optimistic over the off-side, and had his leg stump clipped as the ball surged through... well, not so much a gate as a vacated citadel! England, from an invidious situation, are right back on it!

Virat Kohli b Ali 7 (10b 1x4 0x6 14m) SR: 70

kela, kohli, even current (unfit) rohit will struggle on turners. and dhawan will tuk-tuk.

I keep forgetting that Dhawan could be an automatic inclusion for the WC.

We  may lose our wickets to Moeen Ali lol Be careful what you wish for.

Yeah. Like 96 World Cup where innocous spinners like Jayasuriya, De Silva and Dharmasena screwed us up.

The 270 odd tracks where all roles (seamer/quick, spinner & batsman) have something for them suit us, goes with our cautious batting as well with the new ball. Our batting isn't like Eng to post mammoth totals on flat tracks, although there was a time we chased 360 comfortably against run of the mill bowling. Neither do we like bowler friendly conditions since batting can crumble any time & bowling (esp seamers) isn't oriented for the knockout punch.

That was a terrible wicket, shouldn't have any of those. Sanath of all people spinning it like a left arm Murali and running rings around right handers.
