3 back to back World Test Championship Finals in England - who takes these decisions ?

1) NZ tour of England before WTC final at Aegis bowl, we get walloped in finals in 2021.

2) Ashes in England around same time as WTC final at the Oval...we will most likely get walloped in 2023 finals as our "star" players like Bumrah would be coming off the third rate IPL circus, tired and probably injured, while the key Aus players would rest up and say FU to IPL.

( What lovely timing " favoring" India )

3) 2025 WTC final - also in England.

Why are West Indies, Sri Lanka, Dubai etc...never considered as neutral venues worthy of the WTC final ?

How is it that England always hosts finals, on what basis ? Colonial legacy ?

We grossly overestimate BCCI. Even a third rate PCB is way more efficient and optimizes resources for results better than BCCI.

Timing is also a issue...  June in Dubai not possible while it is summer in England.

Sri lanka can be another alternative.

Windies with its time zones is also no no for ICC.

That leaves us Eng only.

Why only June?

We can have D/N tests up north if it's in India!

The reason is that WTC was made to ensure that Eng always hosts the finals & ICC can mooch off Indian money without basically paying a cent :lollypop:

As the Chinkis say win-win, except for India :whack2:

Only free period I guess for a Test championship....  Also end of the cycle.

ICC will look like a clown if a WTC final is played in the middle of a next cycle.

D/N test is a great idea but BCCI has rejected D/N tests totally now.  No D/N test for Aus series next year

They can easily adjust the cycle to either something like 2.5 years or make a one time change so that it starts from Jan till Dec so around 24 months, 48 is better but they want to milk it like every other "ICC" trophy! Eng beleive it or not still has a massive sway in there, more than India I'd argue & they're clearly playing against our interests!

That's probably only to avoid a loss, imagine a D/N at Dharmshala in May/June end :partyall:

Why was the cycle planned to end in June / July

It could have been normal calender years, which would have meant Finals in India, Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka by rotation.

Cricbuzz said BCCI has totally shelved the idea due to loss in revenue as a D/N game ends up In  very short time.

ICC will have completely change the format & revise FTP to make sure the cycle runs properly & WTC final happens in say OCT-NoV...  A cricket season in India Aus SA & NZ Pak.

In current format only SL/WI/England are ideal contenders for Hosting a final in June.

Personally would love a final in Historic Kensington Oval in WI.

June final rules out all these venues.

WTC format was pathetic to begin with...  ICC itself said it will take time to come up with a better schedule & format.

As it stands its just a final for the sake of it.

Realistically speaking only Eng - in SL they'd be under threat of monsoon & WI can't afford tests, besides totally anti India broadcast slot/timings from that region!

They have made it only for milking yet another "trophy" & no they won't change it because now ICC & ECB both are getting free/huge monies for it. In any case it's a nothing trophy given 5 teams can never realistically qualify for it

Oval does even it out a bit....  It is not a bowling paradise usually.  Only Good bowlers excel there

An Ind v Aus final at Oval would be great unless ICC prepares a unusual Green top like Rose bowl one

British deserve it, when everyone around literally gave up test cricket, they were the ones who stuck their neck out to save the longest format of the game. Take an average number of tests England play in a year and compare that to other Nations, they are head and shoulders above everyone else. Plus most test matches in England are a sell out, and brings lot of excitement among fans and media. No one should complaint really.

The entire WTC is a FARCE.

ODI WC has prestige attached to it cos it has a level playing field for all teams.

WTC is highly dependent on which opponents you get to face and where.

Even the location of finals heavily favours one side over the other.

Plus there is an unintended consequence. WTC incentivizes everyone to prepare green tracks/rank turners to maximize their points so as to reach the finals.

All in all...a flop concept.

They need to completely revamp it.

Why prepare a raging turner if they're worried about short game times? Just prepare a flattie for D/N
