vvvslaxman Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 1.12 KM in 9.45 minutes? That is ridiculously below par requirement to pass the Yoyo. For a completely untrained person that is a feasible task. Think about these guys.

Someone like Ashwin may have had to do more than a few days of preparation as it is more like HIIT exercise. You need to have some basic fitness level to ace it. Anyone who fails even this basic cut off must be having pathetic fitness which will reflect on the field.
MK55 Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 I would have made these tests more stringent. These guys are paid millions. There’s absolutely no excuse for below par fitness. And endurance levels are a necessity. That will also affect focus levels.

It would be interesting to know the names of these 20 players since according to BCCI others wouldn't be allowed to be considered for ODI till WC2023. So whichever selection committee is setup it would be just for namesake till WC atleast since WC2023 selection is already made by current bunch. In Australia we have biscuits called Yo-Yo. So whenever I see a Yo-Yo Test I see Rohit eating his way into the side. raki05 1

It is easy for a regular person. Nz pass criterion is level 21. Ish sophisticated hit level 21 lol. Fittest guys are boult and our nemesis santner who had 22. Kohli is the fittest in our side. Think he hit 21. Out passing grade is only 17. Nz is 4 levels higher. Edited January 1, 2023 by speedracer

Any bozo can pass as long as he puts in the effort. Effort plus dedication and time makes up for intellect. You just need to study a bit longer. Book smart. That's what you term them.

I've known enough of these folks: some are very good, but a few are not - harsha is in the latter camp

Some of them just have better connections, network etc and some just work much harder which means studying longer. Infact the best coders I have ever seen were surprisingly self taught through some quality coding bootcamp. A rigororus one. Cant remember the name but you have to be fully involved and treat it like a full time job. About 38 hours a week of full time coding. I am in finance. I don't do any coding, I focus more on reporting etc but I have seen some of the work the so called 'ivy' league coders do. Yea I am not impressed. It is hit or miss with these graduates. Pollack Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 (edited) After BCCI review meeting it was decided workload of Key players will be managed keeping in mind world cup and IPL. Many dumb indian fans on social media were appreciating BCCI thinking BCCI would ask key players to rest in IPL to keep them injury free IPL franchise official made things clear : Since workload of players in IPL cannot be managed by BCCI they will rest the players in Internationals? A player can still take his own decision to skip IPL but I don't think any Indian player is as dedicated to playing for India as he is to earning money. Gollum Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 (edited) News from Jan 2018: Indian women's hockey players acing yo yo test Highest score 21.1, reached by 4 players (not one Indian cricketer has reached this score from news reports, this includes guys like Kohli, Pandya, Jadeja, Pandey). Lowest was 17.7, imagine 33 Indian women hockey players and not one below this figure!!! Team average above 18!!! From 5 years ago, they must have only improved since then looking at their improvement in fitness against Australia and co. Now imagine what Indian men's hockey team will be scoring in these tests, then what European/Australian men's teams would be scoring. Levels.....no wonder most sporting powerhouses don't take cricket seriously. A sport designed for unathletic folks, hence the craze in SC. Cricket does not need great athletes except for pace bowlers. It requires basic level of fitness only. All this gym culture, workouts and chiseled body is pointless. Kohli is the most fit guy in the team and drops many catches. His ground fielding is good but that's about it. For batsmen just ensure basic fitness and agility. rollingstoned and Gollum 2

When compared to hockey, football, contact sports etc. pace bowlers are the only set of cricketers who will qualify as athletes. I have always said that cricket is primarily skill based sport, that post was just to highlight why it will never be accepted in sporting powerhouses. Heck in USA even soccer and field hockey are seen as girly sports. In Netherlands football/hockey are mighty popular but cricket is seen as a soft sport. Edited January 2, 2023 by Gollum Pollack 1

But athletic teams can make this game much more interesting with their fielding. Australians are not wimps like Indians on the field. Look at Faf du plessis at this age. Compare with much younger indian players. They can't even remotely come close to agility of Faf.

Australians, South africans, kiwis are skillful in fielding. They are not just fit. Jadeja isn't a world class fielder because he is fit but because he is skilled fielder. Average fitness guys can also be decent fielders if they have the skills. Great reflex, strong arm and safe catching doesn't require great fitness.

The way Ryan Parag takes the catch is very different from the way Siraj takes a catch.
