Slightly challenging conditions, home side exploiting the pitches well, lots of pressure and we saw how he wilted. Sharma is a gone case, no redeeming quality at this stage of his career. Scary to imagine these two will be sure starters in home WC 9 months from now. Also the WTC final if we get there.....complete lack of accountability in Indian cricket. Are you kidding, Kohli when he is right can play any bowling in any country Kohli is a must if India has to win WC. He was just fine in whiteball cricket only thing he was no doing was scoring 100s..

In ODIs even at his peak he hardly did anything of note in WCs. Anyone can score against C/D Lankan and WI attacks. adi B 1

Aus were on 83/1 after 16 overs. Could have been a big victory and NRR margin of Australia could have been higher than Bangladesh had it not rained. Australia also had a no result vs New Zealand. Rain played a big part in that group in helping Bangladesh qualify otherwise I think it'd have been Australia vs India in the semi final. I would however say though Kohli is the only one who stands up in T20 KOs. I understand that the thread is about 50 overs cricket. He failed in 2022 but he was unstoppable in 2016 and 2014. Thanks for this info.. I have completely erased this tournament from my memory after Fakhar Zaman pulverised us and Our so called best in the world "top 3" bottled again for umpteenth time that day.. nevada and eulbninem 2
Vk1 Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 SL, WI are almost Zim $ BD level if not worse.. add the WC stats and it makes Kohli numbers look very different

He has experienced a lull in test cricket.I have my doubts about him in test cricket even now he has done fine in World Cup. , he never got any help. Only match we could pin on him is World Cup 2019 semis there also circumstances played a role. Cricket is still a team game every great player also needs help. But he is the greatest player of this generation and he to be given all the chances to get himself right.
eulbninem Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Last 3 years in ODIs Vs Eng, Ind, Pak, Aus, NZ and SA Dhawan and Kohli average 40 and 43. No centuries for Kohli against these teams in the last 3 years. Last 2 years vs the same teams. Their averages go to 36 and 34. Iyer is the man in ODIs for the future. Won't reach the heights that Kohli did, but he'll be the best batter in the team if he carries on this way.
