kubrickian Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 Havent won an ICC tournament in the last 10 years. Please dont tell me reaching knock out stages is an achievement. Everyone knows there are only about 3 or 4 decent teams in the world, so if you manage to beat the minnows you will be in the knock out stages. Also, the ICC tournament format will always be designed in such a way that India and Pak make it to KO stage and face each other to get maximum views. Yet, India have faltered in pretty much every KO game against a decent side. Coming to tests, BCCI will always rig the conditions in favor of India by preparing rank turners at home and foreign teams will have no clue how to play on those surfaces or play with SG ball and get rolled over. This is how BCCI managed to get India into the WTC final twice. The only decent achievement of this team was to win the back to back series in Australia, and that was largely due to Bumrah, Pant and some good spells by fast bowlers and not due to the overrated mega stars like Kohli, Rohit. I mean, have these clowns even achieved even 5% of the expectations fans have of them ? Why do the fans keep hoping they will win anything anymore ? It all seems like a big farce. Austin 3:!6 1
Laaloo Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 It's a dying sport. Thankfully we have other sports in India gaining traction as well. They deserved much more support than these IPL prima Donna self proclaimed superstars.
wanted_desi Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 How many tries they are going to give all these expired players? Hey lets give them till they score 50, and then that will make them safe for another year. If they are going to lose, i hope they lose so badly.
zen Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 Many fans have switched over to following mostly IPL, where you get to see all kinds of players from domestic, national, and international. And there are 10 “Indian” teams to chose from! For international events, ICC LOI tournaments are the ones to follow. WTC appears experimental.
vvvslaxman Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 Bots. Mostly. I have been checking twitter for the last month or so. I see some specific accounts getting activated after every failures of them. This is the case with Rohit.

Austin 3:!6 Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 I am a fan of Indian cricket bcoz I love this sport and India is my home country. So its obvious why I love Indian cricket. Also, considering we are 1 sport country, there is no alternative either. I mean I follow many other sports like premier league football, horse racing etc. but when it comes to cricket its only team India for me. What I don't like though is hero worshipping of players. For me it dosen't make a difference if Rohit or Kohli is scoring runs as long as India is winning. I hate people, especially teenage youths who treat these players like demi gods, line up infront of their hotel rooms etc. I also hate when people drag up their personal life like linking Gill with Sara etc. I love this sport and not the players. maniac Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 How many ICC trophies did we win in the 90’s? I bet most of us here, especially fans of Sachin, Ganguly, Dravid etc stuck through our team since then. Also we used to own teams on tailor made pitches then too. Today we start as favorites in most conditions. Back then we couldn’t even win in Srilanka and Zimbabwe. I don’t remember 83 wc or 85 wsc win so most of my memories of cricket were during the harsh times and I know that plenty of posters here are from my generation or around my generation plus or minus. We used to get owned by Pak in Sharjah, if Sachin got out there was no guarantee we would win even against Kenya, Srinath our fastest bowler used to have a shoulder injury whenever he used to look in form, we respect Prasad and Agarkar because they were competing for no.2 and no.3 best bowler in the country, Saba Karim was the closest we had to Dhoni, Robin Singh was closest to Hardik Pandya who gets trolled brutally today (even by me), back then I remember there was a time even Srilanka and Zimbabwe had scored 300 in a odi when india still didn’t. So at least appreciate what we have now. The team management, selection, BCCI they all have a lot of flaws and we can absolutely vent out. I believe that’s what this forum is for. if anything we have the IPL. I loved the first half of IPL, then tuned out due to both lack of interest and personal commitments and man what a fantastic end. The last few games were truly a spectacle. if you are personally losing interest in cricket I can understand, but if you love the game, you have to bear the crappy performances. Austin 3:!6 1
Strangering Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 I just enjoy Cricket - the game. Altho I hate some of the archaic dumb rules like bye, leg-bye etc
wanted_desi Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 BCCI soon is going to call IPL - World Championship just to feel like that for once.

Altho I hate some of the archaic dumb rules like bye, leg-bye etc byes are ok because it is like a misfield by the keeper so he should be penalized. leg byes I agree with you. With the big bats and small boundaries some benefit should be given to bowlers. Batsmen should either hit the ball or should be able to run if they don’t touch it once it passes the stumps. crickets transition to baseball will be even more closer. I am sure one of these T10 leagues or ice cricket type league will try this idea.

Not a fair comparison at all. In fact, this is the most dangerous comparison we fans could ever make. Its like saying why are we worried about our big company's declining sales...think about the times when we were new and struggling.
khadekhademaaro Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 It is more about supporting India and not the individual players. There will always be support for the team
singhvivek141 Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Indian Cricket fans who are mature enough, most of them are not fan boys/girls but carry a rational aspect to the reality. Everyone knew the result of this WTC. Most of the noise in SM is from the Bots, Paid PR's and countless teenagers who have no idea of cricket but just do to look cool amongst their peers...not to mention that girls take interest in IPL and hence defending Kohli, Rohit etc help them to show off in front of the girls. See the comments on Sports Yaari and Sports Tak YouTube channels...you will find comments to bring back MSD as a captain...or do Rohit vs Virat. No one is bothered to say why we are playing the same XI from last 10 years in Tests despite numerous failures.
Vijy Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 because most indian fans lack nuance. all they want are heroes/superstars. whether they are any good doesn't matter, much like how our best actors are not the same as our most famous actors
