Phasing out Rohit & Kohli before SA Test series this year won't be ideal. I feel that could be final series for them. Maybe for even Karate kid 2.0. Also they should stop Gill opener experiment & give him a long rope at 3. Open with a left hander Jaiswal. No Gaikwad. Pace stocks are depleted... Saini ain't a bad pick considering SA Test series. Could be poor man's Anrich Nortje.

And also there is not enough questions from the press on this subject. We just have to assume it is something to do with fitness. Moment Pujara is kicked out he should have been the one who should have been selected. Selecting another opener RUturaj makes zero sense.

Considering the fact that most of them are not in contention for WTC 2025...wouldn't it make sense to give someone young a consistent chance. Realistically, Rohit isn't going to play Tests, his fitness is too poor. Pujara, Rahane and Kohli all will be 37-38 by 2025...so does Ashwin and Jadeja. If you're serious of winning WTC, this is the right time to transition. Not 2-3 months before the finale.

Unadkut is because of the pecking order...despite not playing any game.

Most probably yes, he batted at no 3 in Irani Trophy as well. Though I will move Gill at no 3 as Jaiswal's game is better against movement.
