Different format

It doesn't matter.  Pressure is pressure. If he was there playing cluelessly for  a while before getting out then we can talk. Most of the time i saw SKY, he looked totally out of sorts not knowing what shot to play. Just looked like a deer caught in head lights. There must be dozen players in domestic who are going to be better than him let alone Iyer.

I think we are being too harsh on Iyer it was his first ICC tournament game.

Played a loose shot no doubt but we have not seen enough evidence that he would struggle against everyone.

sky is not reliable no 4 batter.  He is more of a finisher.

Rahul's spot is perfect & we should not disturb it.

By that logic even Jaddu is great as he's done it in Tests :giggle:

SKY will be useful for pattas as a finisher. Totally different role to Iyer. He was used badly by TM by changing his entry points too much. He should come around 30-35 over.

I don't think India wants another DK situation.  Picking player for "one situatoin".

I think KL Iyer Pandu will solve the 2019 MO situation. DK, Kedar, Rayudu experience has taught us something I suppose. We don’t need hacks in MO esp. don’t mind Sky sometimes if Pandu steps up to bowl full 10 overs.

Our openers have to survive atleast 4 or 5 overs. Ball swings only that long. This is ridiculous for test batsman like Rohit  repeatedly getting out to conventional swinging delivery. There is a reason why not everybody opens the innings. Getting out 1st over 2nd over means ball is not even 1 over old.   Middle is practically doing the job of openers.

if conditions are tough for batting during opening, better to send jaddu up to open. his batting has become very compact over the last 2-4 years. I would keep rohit in opening for now, since he has test experience. however, send gill or kishan down the order. keep kohli at 3

yes so there's nothing to chose in that respect.

SKY gives extra dimension to the batting.

Give Iyer a couple of more games before looking into other options. Iyer is a proper ODI batsman having done it for 4 years now.

Do we have matches in Wankhede or Chinnaswamy? SKY can be used there.

I still feel we are playing a batsmen short, yday also if kohli was caught or lets say he got out around 100 total we would have been in deep trouble. We should go with 6 batsmen, 3 pure bowlers , one batting alrounder and only one of ashiwn/Jaddu/ thakur should play or even we can play one extra main bowler in place of these 3.

If Jadeja plays ,in case of early wickets he should be sent earlier

Ashwin in any case won't be played in seaming conditions

I would rather load a batsman more in place of him not Shardul

Pandua needs to step up beyond his weight there

we won this match because of our bowlers,if we had played with just 2 spinners we most likely would have lost the match.

Yesterday was special case and special pitch which was dry and spinning.I believe Pandaya has to step up for the wc to complete 10 overs of his quota and then we can play 6 batters where pitches would be mostly settled one.

What about Australia then?

Not a single batsman averages 45+ for them.

Only two batsman average 40+, i.e. Warner and Smith.

Out of Marsh, Green, Labuschagne, Carey, Maxwell, 4 batsman average below 35 and Labu averages 37.

Maxwell is the only batsman with strike rate over 100.

Pandya seems to be neither reliable in batting or bowling. He has to be good in one of them. Is he a batting all rounder or bowling all rounder ?

One of the reasons we were not exposed was because we were only chasing 200 and Kohli and KL could go tuk tuk for 30+ overs.

If they were chasing 250 to 300, I think India may have lost the game.

We definitely need a stronger batting line up. Dont make the mistake of not learning from this game until the semi or the actual Final.

i dont trust Pandya at all, yesterday the pitch had something but all he bowled was hit me lengths and thankfully Rohit saw the same and he didnt get any more overs till the end,

Drop Rohit and play Gill and Kissan as opening batsmen. Also if Hardik is only bowling 3-4 overs and being abysmal at that then he becomes a baggage for the team given that his batting never gives the assurance that is needed.

He is a fake allrounder created by the media /sponsor machine and glorified by few fans who have no understanding of what a real allrounder should play like. He is a 5.5/10 batsman given his consistency and a 4.5/10 bowler given his capacity. A reall all rounder should either be 6-7/10 in both disciplines and a world class all rounder will be 8-9/10 atleast in one discipline.

I am talking about India there is difference between there bowling allrounder and ours Maxwell and Stonis are proven allrounder if we had Maxwell and Stonis or even Green calibre allrounder i would not bother to play Thakur or Ashwin (barring spin pitch like yday)as an third allrounder.
