For fun.

Say like combo of top run scorers and wicket takers, or players of the series 11s, combos of top run scorers and wicket takers from a country,  or similar. Remember world cup themed

Like, an 11 of man of the match from finals doesn't work so well because it has no bowlers ... Still it is a good team !

David Boon

Adam Gilchrist

Viv Richards

Ricky Ponting

Mohinder Amarnath

Clive Lloyd

Aravinda Da Silva

Ben Stokes

James Faulkner

Shane Warne

Wasim Akram

Why are you picking openers in your XI? Isn't it obvious that openers will be top run scorers. That doesn't necessarily determine impact though.

It isnt really a "best" 11... literally top runs and wicket takers and tried to stick to the facts openers or top order bats are usually top runscorers, and had to compromise by pushing Dilshan , Dravid, Crowe down... perhaps could have seen who finished 2nd , 3rd etc on run scoring charts

Tendulkar

Gilchrist

Ponting

AB

Stokes

Dhoni(wk)

Buttler

Flintoff

Starc

Warne

McGrath

Justifications :  Couldn't fit Lee in because Starc was a left armer and had better numbers as an opening bowler. First change, Mitchell Johnson was prolly better than Flintoff but it was marginal. Flintoff's heavy lengths could be barely be touched. And he significantly deepens the batting.  Also carried a weak England ODi side for years.

Murali's action was a problem. Also Warne won 2 semis and 1 final. Too clutch to ignore. Buttler has strong numbers at 7 though England play him at 5 and 6 but his attacking skills are 2nd to none.

Yeah you're right,  he was. It was a close toss up between the two (also Shastri vs Maninder from 1987) Srinath was the much better bowler and would have be rapid in 92. I guess I went for Prabhakars batting.

What did Azhar do? or Gatting?

Santner deserves a place somewhere there.
