With Aus its matter of Starc,Warner, Marsh,Zampa finding their straps which can happen v lower ranked teams.

However they messed up in squad selection by not going for guys like Ellis, David,Wade. Even spinners like Kuhnemann should have been considered once Agar was injured.

stupid selection. and Labu is a big issue in MO since he plays for his own records, an un-australian attitude

He wasn't even in the first squad they picked. Came as replacement of Head. Now playing in first XI.

First copy of Smith.

Smith is not great in odis either. He is very limited in odis. That is the problem for Australia.3 and 4 cannot be weakness for any team as India knows very well.

They just have 4 batsmen and no spinners .

Smith is much better as he comes clutch in knockouts. Labu is not a patch on him.

Smith himself not great by any means in odis.Labu is awful so Aussies have no middle order who can take the game away from other teams.

Warner is not the same force and Marsh is a complete hit and miss. Plus they have only one spinner. Aussies have lot of issues.

Most predictions made in this thread are likely to be wrong as majority have chosen both England and Australia among the list of Semi Finalists and as things stand, only one of them is likely to qualify for the Semis , if at all.

Australia have a hole in their bowling and their batting - the overhange of previous memories is too strong in fans and even analysts.

Australia is a weaker one day unit than South Africa.   No question about it.

There was never any question about Australia making semis. No overhang about past results.

They had their share of luck - lets not pretend they didn't.  England shitting the bed completely made their path easier, so did NZ falling short against them.   They were super lucky not to lose to Afghanistan for crying out lod.

Every team has had their fair share of luck in this tournament except India who have been flawless so far.

Afghanistan have played superb cricket and beating them was not easy unlike the Saffers who lost to an even weaker NED.

The argument was that Aussies were not among the Top 4 sides. They clearly were

They were in match losing positions against Afghanistan, New Zealand, Pakistan and England but all those teams choked at the crunch moment. Heck even Sri Lanka were 130/0 against them that too at a chasing nightmare of a venue in Lucknow but collapsed to 220 out of nowhere.

Even in the Semi, had Saffer fielders held onto atleast half of those 5/6 dropped chances the story would have been different. Hope their luck has run out already..
