Take Aways and Learnings from WC 2023 - Preparation for 2027 ODI WC

1) KL RAHUL is not your next ODI Captain. - He will instill mediocrity and mental midgetry in the team.

2) Fast Bowlers had a great WC but Shami will age by 2027, need to groom his replacement.

3) SKY is not an ODI player, he's a mediocre batter for longer formats of a game and should be dumped with immediate effect.

4) Next WC is in South Africa, need to groom more bowling all rounders in the side.

5) Groom Yashaswi Jaiswal to be the next opener replacing RS. 

6) No youngster in the sight who could take up the role of Virat Kohli. Need to groom next gen players for middle order.

It is important that new players should have all round skills and not just one skill. There are no good spinners at the moment

Biggest takeaway . Don't start preparing for a World Cup just one year from the Cup.

 

We were playing Dhawan in ODIs till 2022.

 

Invest in a pool of players who you can see playing in 2027 and back then for the entire cycle. 

 

Don't invest in cricketers with a low ceiling like Shardul Thakur who don't pass the eye test. 

 

You won't have backups to your main pacers. 

 

Finally, if you can't do step 1, don't throw in guys at the very end , especially batsmen ,  who don't have strong List A records at the very least 

 

SKY selection cost this team. Most obvious non performer in the XI. Absolute waste of space.

Planning for the 2027 WC - I like it. I wonder who would be the players representing India at that WC in SA. Must be the weakest WC Squad ever with Rohit, Kohli and Bumrah gone by then.

Biggest take away from this wc this generation especially Kohli jaddu Rohit bumrah kela is cursed i may sound a bit superstitious but uper ke 3 to deffo hai bhai since 14 they have fluffed every time to bhai nikalo inko

No 1 - replace players as they age . Have a two year window period to play players who will suit South Africa pitches . 
no 2 - focus on positive captain like rohit . Don’t get rahul or other negative captain . Pant / kishan / gill imo are ideal for captaincy - groom them . 
no 3 - don’t focus on kohli . Ensure he does not play next wc . His 50 100s or some  like that - no one cares .
