For T20s - Is Jitesh Sharma better WK option than Ishan, Pant or KL ?

All these WK batsmen we have take time to get going as they are more suited for top order. Jitesh seems to be someone who is a genuine lower order batsman who can come and start hitting.

We need to understand one thing here, the approach with which Jitesh or even Jurel bats down the order, they will be inconsistent..some days they will play inns like this, most days they will fail with bat. Are mgmt & selectors ready for such inconsistency?

 

Tbh...we don't have many batters in Indian setup who bats at no 5-6 with good avg (a criteria which selectors see first). Indian selectors focus on the runs & not on the way its been made.

 

Coming to question, Jitesh absolutely has an advantage on Kishan in T20's as he can bat at no 5-6. Pant may not be as he has struggled so far in T20's & hence won't want him to get confused with multiple formats.

He's consistent enough in T20s. T20 need high SR cameos with 1-2 max anchors

No, he doesn't have the temperament. Ability is there but lacks temperament, same as Samson although Samson has improved this with age and experience.

Samson is another top order batsman and our top order slots are taken by seniors. Also Samson is very poor in T20Is, recently layed an egg in WI.

He certainly has more hitting range. Short balls doesn't bother him, can hit spin too.

I don't see Pant being successful at 6-7 in T20s. He also needs a bit of time. That said, he has capital to even replace oldies in top order.

not 6-7 but can easily be 4-5 with Rinku and Hardik as finishers.

How do you  measure temperament? He bats in toughest position and usually has high SR even while rebuilding.

There is shade of Yusuf Pathan in his hitting...  Proper ball striker.  Should be given all remaining 4 games including SA tour. 

He is surely superior than Kishan.  Can strike from ball 1

He will play a few good shots, quick cameos and then throw his wicket away. That is the definition of lack of temperament. You have to smartly guide your chase so that you focus more on finishing the game rather than the high SR nonsense which would lead you to losses because you hit one two many shots and threw your wickets.

 

Rinku Singh is superior to Jitesh in that regard. There is nothing special about Jitesh's batting. Many players have come in past, batted like this and gone soon too.

We should not make judgements based on performances 

 

1) in India

2) on grounds like Raipur

3) against a bowling line up like that of Aus today

 

and infer that batter is better than a Pant who before injury we all know was capable of what against what attacks on whatever grounds.

Issue is the temperment. Dont go by a first innings t20 score. Always go by second innings score under pressure.. if Jitesh can win games in ipl chasing then yes. Basically its now a 4 horse race for 2 wk slots. Rahul jitesh Pant ishan..ipl will give us a clearer picture..

Needs a longer run, can't judge on the basis of one innings. We backed KL in the wrong format for him, now we might be out of games to actually test the folks that matter.

His game against fast bowler has to improve but an absolute monster against spinners and he is fearless.

Pant's record in odi and tests is exceptional.  But he is a terrible t20 batsman.  Struggles to rotate strike.
