Iyer has fallen really hard after becoming the toast of the nation in the WC SF.

Good but overrated knock. It was a patta and he came in at a comfortable position.

His wicket in the finals costed much more

Absolutely, in fact had Brat accelerated earlier we probably would've easily reached 400+ there! And yes Surya Kumar should've been sent in ahead of him at Mumbai - that inexperience/lack of match practice also cost us in the finals :whack2:

These  hail mary 50s and 100s from Thakur has to be taken with a pinch of salt.  Bowling should be the sole criteria to back him.

Who said that, Thakur should be backed for both his batting ability along with his bowling.

It's only really useful on those minefield seaming pitches in SA which don't improve on days 2/3/4/5 but you're not going to get them in Oz or Eng. Perth's the only one I know which if it starts bad is unlikely to get better as the game progresses, like the 2018 test, all other venues will get better to bat later on even if only marginally. The issue is his bowling has gone down - I hope we don't fall for the "Axar" trap again in Oz, Kuldeep should always start ahead of Axar/Thakur as a bowler & even Jadeja if we just want to pick a single spinner!

What sort of a surface this is?  Seems like batting gets easier only after the ball gets old

You missed Ranchi? Batting got easier after 45-50 overs as well. Ball gets soft so the turn is also slower & somehow less balls keep low!

Musheer khan's Technique is quite different from his brother but he somehow scores runs all the time.

it is tighter because he is a more orthodox player, but he does have some front foot plonking issues

karun nair despite being faded still demonstrated his ability to play spin on day 4. and wadkar showed why he is one of the best domestic batter-keepers: solid player, who may not be int'l level, but is needed to keep ranjis, FCs, at high standard.

big plus on day 4 was musheer getting to show off his bowling skills in an extended spell. I saw him more as a batter who could bowl, but if he improves a bit further, he can become a proper batting AR
