Gill can't handle the in dipper, in swing. Very weak against lateral movement, Anderson made him dance last time, he didn't even survive till spinners were introduced. He can't play quality spin in tests as well, Lyon, Toygers gave him hell, so MO is out of the question. Also he has short attention span, throws it away even when he gets starts. Atm he is all hype, no substance.

Yep I am actually not sure if he should even be selected tbh. I really don't know where to put him. I would say 5 but even there is a risk of facing the new ball.

Exactly.   That's why he is suited for the opening role (if at all he plays) when the ball is new.    But many posters believe he should bat in the MO.

He is struggling in same way Kohli was struggling in 2013 English tour, he will still do fine on pitches which has bounce, its the lateral movement where he will continue to struggle.

Sundar and panr are 2 of India's best talents.

Pant is India's greatest talent ever in batting. Infact he already shits on Dhoni and he is a far better batsman than kohli at his peak even.

True bro. They tried to derail Pant's career but the Adelaide fiasco ensured Pant wasn't lost in the system. Now I have a fear that Sundar is being sidelined, needs a lucky break and I am sure he won't disappoint. But play him in tests and treat him as a batting AR, not replacement of Ashwin.

Kohli had a solid body of work before the 2014 Eng tour, in fact before that he had already proved his overseas test credentials in Aus and RSA. Gill has achieved nothing and the more he plays, more it looks like his Gabba 91 was a fluke.

Hes also quite late on front foot, lol

Lateral movement disturbs him

He shifts sideways as well, adjustment is quite complex for him to gauge lateral movement

The more we discuss, the more it appears that he is Good For Nothing.  LOL.     As many hv pointed out, that gabba knock of 91 appears more like a fluke.  And is history by all means.

People think that just because a batsman can't play at high strike rate he automatically becomes a technical genius

It is about his technique and temperament. He has already played 20 tests which is a lot considering the amount of batting talent a country like India has and he is averaging just 30. Ofcourse he can still make a comeback, but right now his chances in tests are coming based on his ODI exploits.

There will always be place to test specialists especially in today's age of packed cricket Calendar. So, instead of giving Gill so many chances other batting talents even if just longer format specialists should also be backed.

No just needs to discuss with his coaches to rectify it

Can be done

His bat speed and ability to pay horizontal shot exquisitely is treat to eyes

Thats not bad considering more than 90% of Tests are away.
