Rahane sucks with the bat. So wont make a comeback.

 

Ashwin place not secure in every test.

 

Bumrah is injury prone.

 

Kela is Kela. Depression machine.

 

So by the process of elimination, the answer leaves us with Gill.

 

Gill is our next test captain.

 

Thats why he should be backed for next 50 tests straight.

Even KL Rahul is better than Gill. But again no one is saving Indian cricket when the KL-VVS duo takes over from Rohit-Dravid. From the frying pan into the fire.

I'd say go back to Kohli, for 2 years and after that hopefully Pant takes over, or Jaiswal.....some young gun

We might make fun of boomers but they are right.

 

IPL money has ruined these youngsters.

 

They have no pride.

 

No passion.

 

No hunger.

 

In the past players used to care about test legacy.

 

Now its about who gets the highest contract and who has the most endorsements.

 

We really need to delink test cricket from these clownish lois....and have a separate team.

 

I think thats the only way test can survive in the future.

 

Make fun of Pujara all you want but look at his drive, committment and passion towards test cricket and how desperate he is for glory.

 

Thats what we need.

 

And its almost impossible to get IPL stars to care that much when they get paid millions for doing almost nothing.

 

Let the LOI fans enjoy the antics of Pandya....and let the test fans enjoy test players grind hard in domestics, counties and practice hard for overseas tours months before it starts.

 

We can easily subsidize test cricket.

 

And soon enough, the market in developing countries would have grown enough for test cricket to self sustain.

 

Its a niche sport and let it be a niche sport.

 

(Im saying this as someone who watches only test cricket and IPL.)

Sure there are good examples like Pant, Rinku Singh, Jaiswal who are good at both lois and tests....and are passionate.

 

But even they would find it hard to prioritize tests moving forward.

They will give it to KL Rahul because Gill and Iyer have been flop in Tests and T20s. Others like Jaiswal has just started. Bumrah won't be available every game every format so don't see him as captain. It will be Rahul and that's not a good indication.

Kohli was removed from white ball captaincy. Kohli chose to resign from test captaincy, not BCCI/Ganguly decision. It was his ego that he would either be captain of all formats or none, poor attitude to have.

Well, it is what it is. He is the only player who has a fixed name in XI. It is not as if any other option we have is a Ben Stokes.

He will need a good tactical coach, hopefully Ponting as he works with him at DC.

What ego? Kohli was held responsible by idiots for not winning the trophies.
