I agree spicy wickets help bazaball more than they hurt them. Not giving 20 wickets to their bowling is the best way to counter Bazball. India threw their wickets away in first test.

Bazball would be successfull against only minnows like Pakistan.  Especially in Pak where the pitches are highways.  (These highways are probably the reason Pak don't hv any spinner of intl standard)    Not complaining though.  I thoroughly enjoyed Eng whitewashing Poyzz 3-0 last to last year.

Yep.     No pujara & No rahane in the team.  Their replacements (Gill & Sarfaraz) are big six hitters.  And of course Jaiswal & Rohit.    I want to know how many sixes Pujara has hit in his entire test career.  LOL

Tbh if England had played normal cricket with Players like Cook, Root and Trott, they could have pulled this off. India had a brand new batting unit and declining veterans in Ash and Jaddu. Without Bazball, this could have been a repeat of 2012.

Big difference in quality between peak Cook, KP, Trott, Bell, Prior and this sorry lot. Crawley, Duckett, Pope maximized their runs with this approach, Stokes and Bairstow are duds, only Root was affected in the first 3 tests, Foakes is harmless.

 

Also 2012 had peak Anderson-Broad and England's greatest modern spinner in Swann, supported by Monty.

Yes Jaiswal Rohit mostly deal in sixes...  Gill can tee off when required.   Sarfraz + Jurel make up for Pant. 

 

Kohli Gujara Rahane barely look to hit sixes...  Bahane used to take ariel route among them occasionally..  There was a time Murli Vijay was only six hitter apart from MSD.

How you feeling bro? I remember you being nervous about Bazball (and our fading oldies) a few months back.

Felt great...  This game was done deal after magical day 1 spell by Kuldeep (always backed him)  knew Bazballers won't pick him and will have trouble. 

 

Oldies are fading rapidly. Ashwin after ages today bowled outside the off stump line (BGT 2020-21 was the last he bowled this line).. Enjoyed watching him after long time. 

 

BazBall sunk in India..  But same set of players will inflict another whitewash on Poyzz this October and maybe against Kiwis too in NZ. 

They would win 5-0 this summer at home vs SL WI

So don't rule out a final against them in Lords.

Over rate penalties will cost them. Hope WI manage a few surprises this summer, they tend to raise their game against Poms.

England assembled the best possible team they could and had a successfully working strategy heading into this series. They even won the first test. But fell flat time and again in every game thereafter. They had no pressure in the last game with the series settled but again their batting showed no spine. Batting slowly or like a snail is not the point. To compete on equal terms, to at-least drag a test match till the last session on day 5 is the expectation for any team. England has failed miserably to show any fight barring the first test.

Not sure of BGT now, our pace bowling is in crisis mode. Imagine if Bumrah gets injured.....don't have hopes on Shami's return and don't want to talk about the thanda Siraj.

2012,  Dhoni as usual was clueless once his spinners could not win matches for him.plus Indian batting let the team down to some extent.

 

That series again showed why Dhoni was a such a horrible captain.He never could see past Zaheer Khan in fast bowlers.
