crictime Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Another disappointing season for MI. The team is on clear decline after having peaked with 5 wins. A lot of seniors who have flopped over tha last 4 years need to be put back in the auctions. To all MI fans, who should MI release and who should be in the radar during auctions. Personally, I feel we need to strategize in auctions: 1. Get a opening combo which can take bowling attack to the cleaners - E.g. PBKS, RR, SRH 2. A No 3. who can be sent in even if the first wicket falls on ball 1 or if the openers have given a start of 100 in 6 overs. Since last few seasons we do not have a fixed number 3. In some matches Will Jacks is sent as No 3, in some Naman Dhir, or SKY. Look at GT, Jos Buttler can come at No3, no matter what the scorecard reads. At the very least the top 3 batsmen needs to be sorted for sure. Bowling: MI needs a bowler who takes 24 or 25 wickets in a season if not more. Some bowlers of other teams have that one bowler who have actually picked 24 or 25 wickets. Trent Boult needs to be released. Allah Ghazanfar has been the standout bowler for MI this year. But the bowling attack cannot depend on just one spinner in middle orders to pick wickets every match. Another wicket taking specialist spinner should be tkaing wickets as well, rather than all-rounder spinner like Mitchell Santner who does not picks enough wickets. Mariyam 1

These are teams which have delivered performance more consistently than any other teams. The top 2 teams in IPL history. KKR is third best with 3 trophies and comes somewhat near the MI and CSK. The remaining teams just make numbers for these three teams. It took 18 years for RCB to win an IPL. GT has won 1. SRH and RR have just won 1 in 18 years. Punjab and Delhi have not even won one in 18 years, god knows how many years will it take them to win their first. Even RCB 18 years wait looks less than the one for Punjab and Delhi. Not winning trophy for 4 years is a big deal for MI. The consistency of a win is missing. We don't wait for 18 year or 24 years for first win. Just about the right time to sort the dip in performance. Not one of those teams who have rarely won a title or has no trophy in the cupboard. Edited May 3 by crictime Suhaan 1

The sides that won it In an 8 team IPL would have won had there been 10 or 12 teams. The sides that have been performing poorly in the last 2 seasons would be laggards even if there were 8 teams.
