Yes freebies are called populist schemes in government elite circles. Some farm subsidies to start with.

Did some thinking on this 1 lac p.a. promise

Total population: 140 cr

Let's say 40cr women claim this 1 lac p.a.

Money required per year: Rs. 40 trillion (lac crore)

Entire tax collections (direct tax + indirect tax) for FY 23-24: Rs. 34.3  trillion

https://www.business-standard.com/economy/news/govt-meets-tax-collection-target-of-over-rs-34-37-trillion-official-124040200662_1.html

Entire union budget for FY 23-24: Rs. 45 trillion.

Firstly one can't match this freebie, this was one fraud successfully pulled over India which got INDI 234 seats.

Well Congress or its supporter are not interested to check if the math adds up. It will be the same as Karnataka.

There was a joke in Pakistan. Patwari was accounting his loan as income. The CA scolded him that its wrong accounting. Patwari replied you are assuming that I have to pay back that loan.

Check out how Chidambaram in an interview faffs around when asked about how these numbers were possible. He keeps saying we will do it. The reporter kept asking what was the basis on which this number was decided and given that these numbers have been released there must have been some plan in mind to do so.

Same was done to the analyst guy for Congress - I forget his name. Pathetic POS. I don't know why the SC that loves to keep interjecting into matters that is out of its jurisdiction cannot strike down these freebie promises - or at least require parties to state how they will be financed.

It’s double that. Raga told the media Chup ho jaa, nahi to do lakh kardoonga!” Such discourse is called tough fight to Gujju Modi even by serious posters. God save India!

State elections will be super interesting. Most likely will loose Bihar, Maharashtra, UP in coming two years. Bengal is write off. Orissa can be bastion in absence of opposition.

Haryana too, a loss for sure. Lots of miffed youth and anti-incumbency

Yes Haryana is lost. But then again, in politics 6 months is a long time as we have rudely discovered. So no experts here.

BJP did nothing to bust this myth, nothing at all.

It's a classic cluster f**k.

BJP failed to expose it.

SC, EC failed to take suo moto cognizance.

Voters failed to see through it. Even Congress voters and party workers wouldn't want to be taken for a ride.

Interesting thing is that party that is forming the govt is doing introspection on what went wrong and party that lost the election for third time in row is in celebration mode. BJP has a strike rate of 60% vs Congress of 30%. And this is third term.

This jolt will hurt opposition way more than BJP majority would have. Cautious BJP is most dangerous one.

I finally found out why it happened. Its because of RG...... not RaGa. Its RG as in Roland Garros, french open tennis. For two weeks now, everyone was RG this RG that. Now RG through constant repetition has manifested in the elections. Alright its been a long day for me :phew:

You are dodging the main issue. Obviously people are not that naive to believe that.

The opposition got that many seats because the voters wanted to keep BJP in check, bulk of these voters being unemployed youth. Mumbai itself has become unbearably populated because a lot of unemployed youth from UP-Bihar side come here to survive somehow, it's not their fault if they cannot find meaningful work.

At least this election has shown that no one is bigger than the constitution.

Have been in Mumbai all my life and I am seeing complete opposite picture. Major labour shortage in all aspects including construction, which is now substituted from Bengal. Influx to Mumbai has been diverted to Bengaluru and Chennai. They see greener pastures there.

Chunk of the migrant labour that got pushed back during covid didn't actually come back.

Even if one takes half of the amount Pappu Gandhy promised, its still a sum that is almost 50% of Indian budget... Even if people are educated they fall for freebies
