zen Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 SA made its way to another WC SF but this time by beating the home team West Indies in a virtual QF. This should give the team the much-needed confidence. SA won the 1998 Champions Trophy, SA's only ICC triumph, by beating WI in Dhaka. So maybe this is a good omen for the team. In the SF, SA could be playing either its old knock-out nemesis Aus or the never-say-die AFG which could be peaking at the right time. Probably, the toughest game that SA will play in this tournament. The positives for SA are that it could play the SF at a batting-friendly venue, relatively speaking, Tarouba, and the F at Bridgetown. QdK and Klassen are shaping up well. Miller is expected to have a good game or two. Jansen could turn out to be useful in all 3 departments of the game. Because of how the team has performed in the past at crucial stages, the expectations are low, which can help the team to play under relatively less pressure. IF SA goes past the SF hurdle, it could make history. Best of luck, Proteas! Maybe your time has come!

Eng is also fighting a strong pattern where no team has won back-to-back T20 world Cups. Aus is seeking to be the first team to hold all 3 titles (WTC, ODI, & T20) at the same time. So again a strong barrier. But nothing is impossible esp. if luck is on the side. On the other hand, AFG & SA have an open field.

Team that is in form and mentally ready for those 2 games will win Need to be relaxed under pressure. Easier said than done ofcourse. India has more than enough talent to win the whole lot but I have zero faith in coolie rohit. Also despise jadeja. If we replaced these 3 we can very well win odi and t20 wc.

If a pattern (or even luck) is strong, a Gadha becomes a phalwan. If not, a phalwan appears like a gadha. A team needs to reduce mistakes, give its best, and hope for luck to go its way (as they say - luck favours the brave) to overcome a strong negative pattern. Kron 1
Number Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 One pattern is after 2012 all T20 world cup knock outs are won by teams chasing. This format definitely helps chasing teams. But I can sense that it may break this time as pitches are not that flat. The Hound and Frustrated 2
The Hound Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Ideally they should've lost to Bangladesh, Nepal, England and WI. Been very lucky this tournament so i can see the luck running out in semis.

Same story back in 2007 undefeated but that loss to India in final league game knocked them out on NRR
Lord Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Markram led them to U19 title, now leading them in finals. Might be the one to end choking memes. Much better than Bavuma at any rate cpct 1
Singh bling Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 India is perfect opponent for them. Daanveer karna will be alive and kicking in final for India.
coffee_rules Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Snow leopards- check Eng Best white ball team beaten - check SA , the big white hope - ?? Can you back India to win this lottery tournament now?
DeepSpace Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I think this time SA will finally shrug of Choker Saali tag and annihilate India in the Finals ... and Fatman will LOSE back to back ICC tournament finals!
Frustrated Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Golden opportunity for SA. Team Ind has way too many passengers viz: Chokli, Dube, Pant.
cricketfan28 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 They microchoked several times, so we have an edge, mentally better team.
zen Posted June 28, 2024 Author Posted June 28, 2024 (edited) With Ind in the final, SA can feel relatively more confident. It may have been difficult to beat Eng twice in the competition and at venues like Barbados. Both Ind and SA are unbeaten so one of them could lose some steam. At this point SA 60% IND 40% Best of luck to both the teams! Edited June 28, 2024 by zen
zen Posted June 28, 2024 Author Posted June 28, 2024 Also the last 3 ICC WC Finals have been Asia v SENA 2022 T20 Pak v Eng 2023 ODI Ind v Aus 2024 T20 Ind v SA

Under his captaincy in 2007, India exited in the first round. In IPL too, Dravid led teams weren’t successful. Now it needs to be seen if as a coach he can turn his fortune around in LOI. Let’s see if WI can prove to be lucky for Dravid this time. Senior players Rohit and Kohli have won T20 WC and ODI WC respectively as “youngsters”. As seniors, they need to put up their hand too.
