Chakdephatte Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 It's good they maintained a small squad, fairly easy to select players among them. But still, why is Patidar not there? He played an ODI in South Africa, should have continued from there.

Patidar even finished strong in the IPL, but I guess the selectors are still scarred by his underwhelming performance in the last test series.

Dhruv Jurel -wk 7- Bishnoi 8-Harshit 9-Khaleel 10-Avesh 11- Tushar Deshpande Strength- Strong Pace attack, Tushar, Khaleel, Harshit bowl quick. Harshit can go from 130 to 148k, Khaleel is the best indian left arm quickie and he is bound to challenge arshdeep's position in the main team, bowls from 127 to 145k, his weakness seems like he has stamina issues and can loose pace. Tushar has been rewarded for bundles of wickets that he has taken and he bowls from 130 to 145k. Avesh can bowl 140+ too but he has kind of turned into a trundler now , lets see how he performs. I am quite certain that Mukesh Kumar will be out of the team. I think Rana and Deshpande are better bats than their batting positions here. So, Rana at 7, Bishnoi at 8 and Deshpande at 9? I would also consider swapping Jurel and Rinku Singh's positions. Jurel seems to take a bit more time to get settled and RS is more of a finisher. Edited July 4, 2024 by BacktoCricaddict
BacktoCricaddict Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 (edited) My guess is that, due to the queue system, Sundar and Mukesh/Avesh are more likely to play than Parag and Rana/Deshpande. Edited July 4, 2024 by BacktoCricaddict

It's gonna be Rutu Gill Abhishek Parag Rinku Jurel Washi Rana Bishnoi Any 2 pacers . If Nitish was available, they'd have probably added Nitish in at 5 or 6, dropped Washi to 8 and played only Rana and 1 other pacer I suppose.

Gill and jaiswal - i have seen both of them batting well together and jaiswal seems to be the leader though Gill also tries hard to come close. if gill/jaiswal/abhishek are 10/10 then ruturaj is 6 on 10, i would not pick him in any indian format. riknu is a 10/10 as a no 5/6 and a 6/10 as number 4 ryan parag is bowling well and as a batsman , he goes for his shots from the word go. washi is a good restrictive spinner and a batsman who if he gets his start , can hit pacers too and even Open the batting. only pacer i am not happy about is Mukesh and if he is not played in 11 , i will be happy. though i was pleasantly srprised to see mukesh kumar bowling 143/144 in one or two international matsches but he has got enough chances and akashdeep and other pacers have beaten him. even a vesh can perform well khaleel has good control too , just need to see if he doesnot reduce his pace under 135k i will love to khaleel / tushar /harshit compete....hopefully avesh is considered as 4th pacer.

Agreed. Jaiswal is the ideal option but he's not in the squad so they'll go with Rutu for his experience. I expect Jaiswal to replace him when he comes back.
Prabhdeep Singh Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Abhishek Gaikwad Gill (C) Pirag Rinku Jurul (WK) Sundar Rana Bishnoi Khaleel Avesh Jaiswal, Dube and Samson (WK) available from 3rd T20. express bowling 1

Agreed, I dont think Ruturaj adds lot of value to any Indian team..neither is very explosive like Jaiswal\Abhsihek.. nor he is the equal to Gill..he comes 4th\5th choice opener to me..who can win you matches against medium level sides but wont raise Indian team bar against top tier teams.. vishalvirsingh, Norman, Frustrated and 2 others 2 3

Gaikwad will sneak in most probably at 3. Sad that Nitish got injured. India should always try to make a team where batting goes till #8 with 6 bowling options. Nitish at #7 and Harshit at #8 will make an ideal team Combo with Abhishek as 6th bowling option. Edited July 5, 2024 by prudent_kreeda

Yup. Rutu is basically the Rayudu of mid 2010s.
Number Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 (edited) Looking forward to see Parag in internationals. I feel he is one player who has the right T20 mindset and can be a long term replacement of SKY in the midddle order. Edited July 5, 2024 by Number
Gollum Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 (edited) Strict instructions must be given to coach/captain, to make Jaiswal, Riyan, Abhishek bowl more in the games. Results don't matter, our need to bat till number 8 does, and that is possible only if we develop Head, Maxwell, Markram, Livingstone type players. Time to include bowler who could bat as well, Siraj and Sing's 7-9 runs helped Ind in that Ind-Pak match. Rana is good inclusion, could have included Arshad Khan (LAF from LSG) could have served multiple purposes - lower order batter, bowls LAF could be a back-up for Singh Ind should be on look-out for a t20 wk-batter and a proper finsiher, Pant struggled in t20I, he has intent but lacks execution and game for it. Gill, Sudharsan, Rutu all 3 are same mould player who have caution first approach, still in top 3 only Abhishek is t20 kind of batter. And none can play out of top 3 position Edited July 5, 2024 by tapandrun Gollum 1

It is similar situation Ind found it self with Kolhi,Rohit and Pant in top3 with kolhi out of form you can not drop him so he goes to no#3 and Jaiswal would have to come in as opener and that would mean Pant had to go to #5 where he does not have power and game to play big shots. This is v.similar situation Pak team is in Babar, Rizwan - Both can not play out of top #3 positions and are T20 accumulators they tried to bring in Ayub to open but he failed to provide stability and impetus hence they remained a weak t20 bating side lacking power and stroke making
