Why aren't they keen to give Jaiswal an ODI debut. Dude should have played ODIs an year ago and should be regular now in the squad.

Problem of plenty

Lot of cricket before CT, tough to see all of Ro, Ko, Gill fit so soon after BGT (actually 10 tests if you include home season). Unfair on Jaiswal if he has to debut directly in CT.

At least give him few games to calm his nerves. No matter how talented, first match jitters won't go away.

Didn't realize Gill is the VC even for ODIs. So, he's being prepped to take over after CT2025. Interesting. Kela is on notice, I guess.

They are doing a big mistake in dropping a guy like Jaiswal, he could have played in place of Dube in world t20  too in middle order.

 

 

What if Jaiswal is lighting up t20s and he already is doing that in tests , would you still drop  him from Odis.

 

Samething if both  Rohit and Kohli are doing well in Odis  even after CT and  are fit enough  plus want to play World Cup, would you drop them.

 

IMO they should always try to find place for talented players, Jaiswal is one of them.They could not find a place for Sehwag in middle order, they made him an opener, we know what happened next.

 

May I know your team combination...would like to see how you will fit Jaiswal.

I would not have selected Iyer in the team itself. I would play Jaiswal at number 4 in odis.

Rohit captain..Gill VC..both cant be dropped..

I would have swapped Gill with Jaisawal in the opening if given a chance..

lower MO looking shaky due to Parag's inexperience and Pant's risky batting..Pant will have to be lot more mature here..

If Rinku was there in the squad..I will add him in place of Jaisawal..and move Parag to 4 and Rinku at 6..

I am not liking 2 accumulators in Kohli and Gill at the top though..I would have replaced Gill with Jaisawal..if TM wasnt stupid to fix him as VC

SL is not great, this is the series you need to test your inexperienced line up.I would not have played Kohli or Rohit.

Jaiswal I have only seen in opening..not sure how he will deal with MO..why to ask him to change his game..let him bat in top order and kick Gill instead..

Then how will they fit in Kohli? Ideally, selectors should've forced him out of ODIs while keeping an eye out for WC 2027. Rohit and Jaiswal as openers and Gill at 3 taking Kohli's position for a like-for-like replacement. And when Rohit retires, Gill moves to opening slot.

 

Now the problem for team management is that they know Jaiswal will succeed - he's already the best Test batsman and was the best T20 batsman in the Zim series. And if he succeeds there'll be talk of including him in ODIs. Whom do you think'll sit out? Captain Rohit? VC Gill? or "King" Kohli? They made the convenient decision of not picking him in ODIs and save themselves this head-ache.

 

Why do you think he's getting called up for T20s? Coz Rohit & Kohli retired so they can play him without worrying. But Abhishek had to be sacrificed to save VC and the "all format" star Gill. Indian cricket is full of politics and the reason why we've under-achieved to such a great extent despite all the talent in the world.

Don't get the point of Rohit anymore in any of the squads. He is 37, will be 41 in 2027. Even Kohli will be 39 in 2027. It's the right time to build new players in their positions. Hopefully after CT.

GILL- i have been calling out that Gill is not a T20 Batsman and He is a perfect ODI batsman and some one who should play TESTS for INDIA. ANy Test playing batsman should not be pplaying T20's for INDIA. IN T20's LAPeTA Shot gets you a lot of RUNS  specially 4's and even 6's. Riyan- is he an All rounder if yes - R u Sure..selectors??? is he better than ABHISHEK in batting ? Is he better than abhishek. i would pick abhishek ahead of riyan.

DUBE- he is a good t20 Batsman , evevryone knows he can bat against spinners and a bit against is his bowling reaching Hardik's level atleast....

All other selections good in t20.

dube is not a pace AR and hence does not fit in...dube as a batsman is good but the steady batsman wont give him an opportunity and as a batsman i will pick rinky ahead of DUBE in ODI. if dube cannot be as good as hardik in bowling , he does not fit in.

i would play Shardul as a replacement to HARDIK as he is equal to Hardik as a bowler at least. 

axar is not as good as washington, washie is a very run restrictive offspinner and a decent batsman , if washie is fit , he is ahead of AXAR, they should have picked washie in world cup and also here and axar is not required.

again abhi is a better bet than RIYAN..as a Spin bowling Batsmen.

Quality players will always adapt.

 

Gill is very good as an opener why replace him.

Yes . very high chances CT is the end for ROKO in ODI.
