Well he did play the group matches which he won very easily - that ended Wed. He did not play yesterday in R16. So I don't think it was rust.

Badminton is tricky - for people dumping on our doubles team which lost at least they played better than this world no 1 in singles today. Shetty/Reddy just did not have an answer for the poking game and short rallies that the Malaysians played. For rallies which lasted over 5 shots they won but the Malays kept it to rallies of 4 and under with their relentless poking shots and preventing the high game.

Yeah Satvik Chirag were never outright favorites. Even Chinese no. 1 TT player got knocked out in QF. You always have to count bad days.

Our problem is we have just 10-12 medal hopefuls.

Yaar kyon mujhse  mehnat karwate ho?

Toor's best of 21.77 m is good enough for a medal almost always. In 2020 he would have been 4th position with his best throw... check the throws in previous finals as well...

Just randomly checked 2000 Olympics - gold medal throw is 21.29m.

2004 gold medal throw 21.16 m

2008 gold medal 21.51 m

2012 gold medal 21.89 m

2016 silver 21.78 m

Even after this I am saying 1/8 chances of a medal... what is unreasonable here I am not understanding.

Likewise 8.3 to 8.5 m long jump gives you gold in last 6 Olympics. Aldrins best jump of 8.42 m is a gold in probably 4/6 previous Olympics. He isn't even a 1/8 chance?

21.61 is the #1 position now
