Or maybe others showed their true selves in the final.

No - he dropped from 9.81 down to 9.91  - a full tenth of a second in the final.

9.81 was the bronze medal time of Fred Kerley.

Weirdest rule. You can finish fifth and qualify with a bad timing than someone who has finished 6th in other heat with much better timing

Haan, confusing hai.

But I am so tired and sleepy at end of the day, that I will just hit the bed, forget about this and directly watch the finals.

Younger me would have been curious to understand this as well as many other things (biggest mystery is why they have semi final and final in rowing every day with same people).

Wind speed too affects timings.

Ok so seniors probably had a bigger role in keeping that South Korean legend out.

They need to be made an example of.

The issue is the federation gets money because of these world championship events which happens every year. And who is the winner in these. Miss Deepika. So basically these officials dont wanna rock the boat. Olympics comes and goes. There will be a hullabuloo and then all will stop when the next big event comes in.. people have short memories.. and the gravy train goes on

That damn guy with PB of 8.10 in Heat 2 set the pace - everyone then had to keep up.

That idiot will learn how not to medal now because people took it easy in the other 2 heats.

Fortunately Sable did not work too too hard in heat 2.  Actually a good practice heat for him.

Lol let me answer. The final and semi final is not for gold silver or bronze. But its for 4th to 8th. 9th to 13th etc positions. Its called final d, final c etc.  balraj pawar also was in final. He finished 23rd in the men's single sculls event at the Paris 2024 Olympics rowing competition after placing fifth in the Final D.

Thanks bhai.

My next question is why do they do this? Who finished in 12th or 20th place, does it matter? Or any team component there? Like in cross country races, they average the ranks of individual competitors and hand out team medals.

2 boxers were one wins away from getting bronze, confusing judging also.

Indians finishing 4th in so many sports is very disappointing. So close, yet so far. Nobody remembers 4th place.

Tiil 2000s everyone used to remember pt usha and milkha singh 4th. Even football 4th in olympics. Then we startee winning some medals in Olympics and see now no one cares.

Apologies for bringing in cricket equivalence here but in a cricket tournament one team in a group can qualify with lesser wins than another team in another group with more wins right?
