India's luck in sports is so poor. We cna't win tosses in ICC knockouts with a record of 2 tosses won out of 14 over the last decade. Our shuttlers and table tennis players faced no. 1 seeds early on, Nikhat got a tough draw, archers & shooters came up against Koreans early on. Kaisi panuti kismat hai yeh?

 

Now wait for refs messing up a ruling against India in the SF against Germany, and the way things are panning out Neeraj will throw for 90m and winning throw in Javelin final for it to be ruled a foul based on some archaic rule :((

Vinesh's draw is actually good since she would anyway never win gold against Yui Susaki.

Yui Susaki is guaranteed gold medallist in this category so Vinesh will get repechage and just has to win 2 matches against Ukrainian and Turkish/Colombian wrestler to win bronze. The other half of the draw is much tougher so this is the easiest draw she could have got for bronze.

What does rich have to do with connecting people in all walks of life to athletics? Does the daughter of a construction worker with high athletic promise have access to world class facilities, equipment and nutrition? Can she afford to lead a life as a promising athlete? Would she even get discovered? 

 

A country can be top heavy "rich", which is unfortunately, what India currently is.

True. The disparity between the top and the rest is way too much compared to other countries. A communist country like China is much better in that regard as the top leaders can make a decision and make it happen but in our case no matter what the intent, it'll be lost in the bureaucracy.

Amos Serem the 6th place qualifier in Heat 1 was allowed into the steeplechase final by "qR:Advanced to next round by Referee".

 

Then why not the 6th place qualifier in Heat 2 who was better than all of Heat 1 or Heat 3?

 

Well this is the Olympics after all..... any rules made up as they go along.

She won silver for the last few tourneys including last Olympics. Finally won the Gold
