Relatively quiet day today.

Ambanis and Modi want to bring 2036 Olympics to Ahmedabad. Why not Delhi, Mumbai? Or Chandigarh, which is in the heart of our best sporting region? 

 

Need some good waterbody nearby as well to host many of these events. And some sporting pedigree in that region.

 

Desh ka har resource being allocated to Gujarat.

Have you been to gandhinagar? I have been to most major cities in India and gandhinagar-ahmedabad is best suited for Olympics imho, Gandhinagar esp. Terrain wise, infrastructure wise, weather wise, best planned city wise.

Chandigarh is our best city, most well planned. And infrastructure already there in Delhi from previous Asian Games, CWG etc. Mumbai too has solid infrastructure and one of the best marathons in the world. 

 

Been to Ahmedabad, dead city. 

 

And what about sports culture?

Lol Forget sports culture. If we ever host an Olympics do it in a clean and pollution free city with good infrastructure and less congestion. Ahmedabad is a good candidate in this regard.

I feel 2036 is too early. And CWG loot still fresh in my mind.

USA with max medals, 20. But only 3 gold medals. 

 

Part of me is happy watching China, Japan, South Korea doing so well against goras even in fencing which was gora exclusive sport for so long. Even Egypt, Tunisia have medalled in fencing. If they can, India too can in few years time.

naah i think 2036 is perfect time. 2010-36 is 26 years.

 

by 2036 india will be a 0.72-0.73 hdi country with around $5000 pci (in 2024 dollars)

 

that is solidly middle income and richer than china 2008 and korea 1988

white domination is ending.

 

whites were the first to become rich in the modern world.

 

i think by 2036-40 we should become really strong in shooting, wrestling, badminton etc and start getting at least a bronze or two in stuff like tt, fencing, swimming etc.

China and Japan has progressed so much in gymnastics, when I was a kid, only Russians, east Europeans and USA were medal contenders

If Ambani wants to spend 100% of his private money then i have no issues for it to be in Gujarat. If tax payers have to fund it why not just modernise the CWG venues to today's standards- it will be much cheaper than building things from scratch. Plus flights, metro and general logistics are better in Delhi

Issues with Delhi

April to August too hot. Rains can cause mayhem at times.

From October onwards the pollution problem starts. Till the time of CWG there wasn't this much pollution.

September is the best month weather and pollution wise to host anything in Delhi. It's not too hot, air pollution levels are the lowest and rains are not that heavy. No wonder they hosted the finale of the G20 summit in Sept.
