Good length ball, comes in with the slope and Root is off-balance as he misses the clip to get pinned on the front leg adjacent to the sticks. No bat. Over to ball-tracking and it's clipping top of leg (umpire's call). Sri Lanka don't lose a review and Root survives

This Root never gets dismissed cheaply, always a hurdle for teams like SL and other mid tier ones.

Root was lucky in previous match run chase as well. 

 

47.3 Vishwa Fernando to Root, no run, umpire's call saves Root! He was way down the crease and the impact was more than 3m when he was rapped on the pads. He looked to work it away, got pinned on the pads and despite the ball crashing into the stumps, Root is safe. Advancing down the wicket has helped him

Kohli had opportunity to score some last winter at home but he chose to opt out playing 5 tests against Eng

He has missed many tests since 2021, seems to have lost interest. Against Eng on those pattas earlier this year, he missed easy 500 runs series and 2-3 100s. 

 

Jaiswal scored 700+ with 2 doubles, that too at 80+ SR like Sehwag. 26 6s which was more than entire bazball squad

Srilanka has over-achieved with their rubbish team.  Only reason they went toe to toe with England was because England had slightly longish tail and vulnerable top order.
