Kane Williamson's departure to India has been delayed, and he is expected to miss the opening Test in Bengaluru due to a groin strain sustained during the recent series against Sri Lanka. New Zealand Cricket confirmed the news in a media release on Wednesday, October 9, noting that Williamson will need to undergo rehabilitation before joining the team in India.

 

New Zealand selector Sam Wells expressed optimism about Williamson’s chances of returning later in the series, once his recovery is complete. Wells said that the advice they got was to let the star batter rest and rehabilitate rather than taking a risk of aggravating the injury.

I remember he also pulled out of the Mumbai test in 2021 on the eve of the match.  Likewise pulled out of 2016 Eden test last minute, that was a greentop and low scoring match. Sad part is this fraud will end up with better looking numbers than Sachin, Lara, Ponting, Smith, ABDV, Root.....all of who never shied away from challenge even if it damaged their numbers. Agree with everything but why'd he be scared of greentops? He plays them every game at home anyway.
