Skills matter of course but in sports genetics play a role as well. Can't deny the science & genetically Pakistanis and Indians are similar.

BD players are lot skinny and smaller in stature than rest of the subcontinent.  Maybe they will improve with more development & living standards improve.

Lankans look most sturdy and beefed up of the lot.

HDI plays its role as well.

The HDI and nutrition piece I agree. But in a sport like cricket physical structure is one dimension but not the only one and not the primary one either. Gavaskar was 5'4 but did not matter to him when he was scoring runs against the Caribbean bowling lineup consisting of giants both in cricketing and physical sense. Tendulkar was 5'4, skinny and small literally in a cute way when he debuted against Imran, Qadir, Wasim and Waqar and still proved himself. My point is when the coach or captain is giving excuses of physicality in cricket, then they are mentally losers and should do better to find alternate profession.

I know it's funny. But this is a pathetic comment from an ignorant person. Genetics has nothing to do with it. It's strength and conditioning and training. It can be achieved.

They really don't need to be having body builders physiques.

All it takes is diet , endurance training and strength training. It's something that can be achieved for most serious athletes.

Gavaskar was more like 5'3 like parthiv and Shaw.

They (India )have much stronger players. We are working on our strength and conditioning, but you can’t fight genetics,” he said.

Lol at 5 kg beef eater bloddy kanglas.

It’s hilarious. But honestly needs to be fired if he indeed said that. If that’s the attitude he’s gonna project, he’s completely useless.
And strength, conditioning, flexibility, diet can be easily worked upon.

BD HDi  was above India and recently dipped slightly below

The hypothesis by the coach is misplaced. While basic strength is needed to clear the boundary...that strength is present in most sportsmen. They  may not git massive 110 m six like dhoni or Gayle but can do the 75 to 80 m quite easily. The strength aspect comes from not being able to clear the boundary along with of course bad timing. Tendulkar was short .messi is short.  The issue is skill..if you can't even put bat to ball or try to hit the wrong ball for six..good luck with all the genetics and everything. Else

Ganguly, Rohit, DK even Tendulkar were more of timing players. They relied more on timings.

While those who are not great timers generate immense bat speed with their muscles like Dhoni, Symonds, Mitch Marsh.

It is a bit like how some of the top Javelin Throwers are very lean like Neeraj, Zeleny who generate power from their flexibility while some of them are built like giants like Webber, Nadeem etc who generate power through upper body strength.

Cricket is one of the few sports where your physique doesn't give you an advantage. Unlike American sports such as American Football/NFL, Basketball or Baseball, where being a certain height and powerfully built is a pre-requisite, Cricket gives you an even chance to succeed. You can be built like Tendulkar or Kohli or Ranatunga and can be a star. Don't think Sri Lankans are that much different from B'desh in physique and they have done pretty well.

Hitting sixes is all about aggressive intent, timing, technique and bat flow. This coach knows nothing about cricket i believe after reading his comments. If I was in the Bangladeshi camp, I would have been pretty upset with his comments, comes across as racist.

How is this thread any different than garbage coming for Pakistani when they used to comment India doesn't have fast bowler because Indians don't eat meat.

Different because it came from a third person. Their coach

That's even worse, these Bangladeshi and Pakistani people have these claims, it makes them look retarded. But let's just focus on our faults that way we can correct them early.
